'25 Coaching Carousel Thread

Man, talk about a program willing to live with very low expectations. He has a very poor track record and is going in the wrong direction. Plus, he is a massive tool. I feel bad for their fans.

and the further strangeness of it, I have aunt/uncle that live in Phoenix I visit from time to time. Despite being Ok State alums and fans, they are awesome people. My uncle I talk/text pretty reg during football season. They've lived in PHX for 20+ years and he mentioned several times about all the corporate PHX money now pouring into Sun Devil football (and hence the success of the last season, as a partial explanation).

I guess that's not happening in hoops if Hurley's recent track record is adequate, fit to purpose.

weird.

edit: and when you are in PHX (which is not exactlyTempe, I know) but Grand Canyon U has all kinds of marketing stuff all over town, billboards, etc. ASU, nothing last time I was there.

I predict you're going to see a lot of hesitancy to fire coaches with buy outs (us being on of those as well)

I don't know what his contract is, but if they extended him in the past two or three years or gave him a significant buyout, they are dumb as hell. At some point, I would hope school presidents would start holding stupid ADs responsible when they hand out extensions and buyouts to coaches like Moser and Brent who deserved to be fired more than they deserved to be extended.

Extended in 2023 (Signed in 2024) through the 25-26 season. Contract pays him 2.8 million for the 25-26 season. Supposedly owe him 2 million if they decided to move on before his contract expires.

Buyout isn't much, but its obviously a high enough amount to them that they don't want to pay.
