Brady Manek admits OU lost the "want" to win

It is not passing the buck to explain what happened. He threw a lob pass, Brady didn't finish it, probably because he got fouled.

it couldn't have possibly been that it was a bad decision. oh wait, trae never makes bad decisions...its either the other players fault or a foul that wasn't called. silly me

That is exactly what happened. You truly live on a different planet than the rest of humanity.

Please provide a link to people saying that Trae never makes bad decisions. I'll wait for your response. :facepalm

In fact that is Trae’s weakness but it should be expected do to his level of experience. Trae is a really good player. He is a good person and he comes from a good family. He does make selfish decisions at time.

this board is full of people that think Trae can do no wrong, is a saint, and an OU legend.

Most posts remotely similar to what you are saying were made in November and December and most contained caveats. If I can put up with posts that are unrelentingly negative, you can put up with posts that were overly positive.

You’re confusing the people who who think Trae can do no wrong, with those don’t believe it’s right to blame him for everything and continue to hammer him on thread after thread.

There is plenty of blame to go around, from Trae’s teammates to the assistant coaches, and, yes, to the man in charge, Lon Kruger. They were all responsible to some degree. Despite what a few here seem to think, TY wasn’t the only one who contributed to this dumpster fire of a season.

I think the over-saturation of America with Trae Young has magnified the collapse of this team even more, and I think it's made Trae a convenient scapegoat, because he was so often portrayed as the hero early in the season. While you can't pin down just one reason for this team's collapse, I will say that I think Trae's style of play and early attention did likely hurt this team later when things went south. Anytime you have a star as your centerpiece like TY, you run the risk of the other players being jealous, or of becoming disenchanted. Especially if that player isn't an outspoken leader, a la Lebron James or Kobe Bryant, for example. Had this team had some solid veteran leadership, perhaps things could've been different. But the team didn't. Lon gave Trae the keys to the car, and the car went off the road and crashed mid season.

He's also just using a ridiculous straw man. There is nobody on this board who thinks Trae is completely without blame.

What do people think of Brady making that comment publically? Does he have the potential to be a future leader or should he have kept that thought to himself?

I like the comment. It feels like an honest answer after a brutal end to the season that doesn't throw any single person under the bus. I think he was hoping by saying this that it might cause some self-reflections and some guys get the "will to win" back.

At this point, who knows? It couldn't hurt, right? Lattin said something similar after the OSU loss. I can't see how the team could possibly be worse off as a result.

I agree.

He will be an ou legend... but he's not perfect and literally no one has claimed that

An OU legend? Are you serious?

For what? 18-13 and one and done is not the stuff of legends. I know OU basketball isn’t a blue blood, but OU legends accomplish far more than Trae and they elevate their teams to win something that matters. OU legends put OU first, not their own selfish interests. OU legends are more concerned about helping OU win games and championships instead of their own stats. His 1 year here and what he’s done does not come close to legend status.

He’s a good player, but legend? Hell no.
