Bryce Thompson timeline?

Yep, pretty disappointing to lose out on a great Oklahoma kid. I realize he wants to play in front of big crowds, etc. I just don't understand how in the world a kid or his parents could allow themselves to play for such a snake, and cheating program such as KU. This isn't a situation where people "have heard", or they "probably are". They've been caught red handed. Their coach antagonizingly and arrogantly flubs his nose at the NCAA with that snoop deal. I know it sounds like sour grapes, but it just seems weird to me that out of all the choices he has, he chooses the one with by far the most controversy. Doesn't seem fair, either. For OU, any time there's even a HINT of trouble with the NCAA or anything like it in football or basketball, recruits scatter.

His dad played for Self at Tulsa, that's a hard relationship to let go of even if I do agree with your points.

Stikboy, it’s not “sour grapes” when all you’re doing is repeating published facts.

If BT picks KU, I will wish him well. But I would be disingenuous if I didn’t add that I want Bill Self and KU to get everything they deserve. If the only way OU can get Bryce is on the rebound when the NCAA investigation is over sometime next year, I’ll be fine with that.

Its the kids choice. We'll be just fine.

CBs on 247 are flying in for KU for BT. Would have been great to get him, but in the end, it seemed OU never actually led for the kid. Oh well, better than giving OSU an insane class for 2020.

I think I'd rather see him go to OSU.

Word has it in some corners that his dad and mother wanted him to go to OU.

Throw in the NBA guys who were advising him that Kruger was a better fit for his skill set and goals, and it seems as if we did all we could do. I'm with those who are disappointed that he chose a school currently under a cloud of serious scandal, but obviously it's his call. I wish him well, generally, but I'll be cheering harder than ever against KU while he's there.

Why do you want OSU having any more bragging rights than they already claim to have? KU is a powerhouse already, we don't need more losses in the Big 12.

I don't have as much love for KU as some on here.

Has nothing to do with love for KU. It is common sense. KU is a national power with or without him. We have competed against KU teams with kids rated higher than Bryce for decades. KU will be KU regardless. OSU, on the other hand, would benefit a ton by pairing him with Cunningham for a season.

Plus, though it is a longshot, at least there is a chance that he will end up at OU this way, if KU is sanctioned before he enrolls next August.

That is not a given. Putting 2 highly talented but young players on a team does not always equal success.
That being said, I'd still rather not see it happen.

Why I picked Kansas: Five-star recruit Bryce Thompson explains his decision to join the Jayhawks

I leaned on my parents when coming to this decision. As former college athletes, they’ve been through the recruiting process and I trust them to highlight areas I may have missed. We took most visits as a family and debriefed after each one. I’m grateful to have my family to lean on through this process. They know my goals and are committed to helping me position myself to achieve them. I don’t take them for granted.

My first memory with coach Bill Self was in the Union High School gym when I was (a third-grader). Kansas was in Tulsa for a postseason game and I got to take a picture with him. That was my first time to meet coach Self in person. It’s crazy how it’s all come back full circle and now I’m about to sign with Kansas.

While recruiting me, coach Self showed me the whole blueprint of where I could fit in. He showed clips of their style of play and clips of my style then explained how my game fit. He talked about the strength of their schedule. Kansas played Duke last week at The Garden. I'd love to display my talents on a stage that large.

...

I couldn’t have gone wrong with any of my finalists: Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and North Carolina. Each has a great staff and skilled players. I’ve often been told that I have great options. I agree, and it’s something that I don’t take for granted. I’m appreciative for all the college coaches who invested their time in me during this recruiting process.

I will never understand this thinking. KU is not getting punished anytime soon. Look how long the NCAA dragged their feet on the UNC issue, and did nothing. BT will be long gone before the NCAA looks at punishing KU.

Welp, since I hate Kansas basketball as much as I hate Texas football, I hope Bryce loses every single time he hits the floor. Nothing personal against him. Just a lifelong hatred of Squawk basketball.

You keep saying stuff like this, despite every college hoops analyst who has addressed it saying that the decision will likely be made next spring or summer. No offense, but when a guy as knowledgeable and plugged in as Jay Bilas says that he expects the decision in June or July, I take that as a more informed opinion that what anyone on a message board (myself included) says.

Good luck to him. I hope KU gets hammered with the NCAA although I doubt they get anything. They have been cheating for years. Their ticket office scandal years ago was all for paying ticket brokers who also had AAU teams. Guys were bought and still have been and now Self is on the wire tap and nobody cares.

Jay Bilas said the other day in an interview that he didn't expect any penalties because nobody cares what is happening. He also knows that Coach K had Zion's family moved to Durham. I'm sure he didn't pay for it but you can bet it was a Duke booster. Obviously illegal but hard to prove and again NCAA doesn't care.

They may get punished but it won't be an NCAA Tournament ban and that's all that matters to Bryce.

He'll be long gone before any scholarship restriction, if any, comes down.

Plus, Self will still be there.

They are cheaters but nothing of any substance will come from it, imo.
