by the fouls. I think I heard them say there were 50 free throws in the second half of OU Michigan State. Unwatchable.

I agree. I've found it awfully hard to watch non-OU games this year. The entire pace of the game has been ruined.

There were 50 fouls. The total number of free throws was 66.

I agree, this was not a pretty game by any means. Still, I like the new rules that give more of an advantage to the offensive player. I think in time the players will adjust and games like this will be practically non-existent. At least I hope so.

Horse hockey. Players, coaches and officials will adjust and the game will be better than ever. The hand checks and rough, physical play were what was ruining college basketball. This was a change that was long overdue.

Agree 100%. Many many fouls on MSU were not called tonight, call them all.

Long term this could work out well. For now these games are rough to watch. I think it is made all the harder to watch as the refs adjust to the new rules as well. I've seen them inconsistently calling the rules all over. Some games it is a free throw parade, others it is like nothing has changed. We'll have to wait and see if it gets better.

If anything, the way it's being called now may save college basketball.

Absolutely agree. The hand checking and physical defense made last year tough to watch. Big 10 games were particularly brutal. Once teams get used to the rules being called and adjust, the games will be much more open.

Agreed. Basketball was meant to be a finesse game, not a mix of football and Rugby, with a little bit of wrestling thrown in. The good, well-coached teams will adjust in time. Those who don't will be left behind wondering why the game has passed them by.

When I played ball many years ago we didn't have the rough contact. They may be calling it a little tight now but I think they will back off a little and the players will adjust. The thugball thing got a little bit out of hand.

The biggest difference now is that some players are really hard to stop. We did a good job checking them particularly in the first 10 minutes of the game. We are not deep enough to go that hard the entire game.

I think this is wrong.

It has turned the game into a puss league

Have you guys seen the calls being made? Ridiculous

It's not like they let people get mugged before. There were better ways than this. It will only increase the GAp bt college and nba

That's why I included the officials when I said people will adjust. As Ada said, basketball is a finesse game, a game of skill, not brute strength. Players weren't always mugged, but there were some teams that specialized in that.

Right now, it's a period of transition and it's hard for everyone. It will be a better, more entertaining game, in the long run.

Agreed

These changes have made the game much better.... In earlier years, "physical" teams likes Michigan State, Wisconsin, Kansas, John Calipari teams, etc literally mugged people up and down the court all game long.

If the game is going to have problems, I would rather see 86-80 problems than 48-44 programs.

The game was becoming nearly unwatchable. Nobody likes to see a game be 24-21 at halftime, and that was becoming far too normal.

Absolutely!!!!

I don't want an 86 80 game bc 60 free throws were shot.

Guess In the only one that doesn't like three hour games and when teams are in double bonus at the ten minute mark. I'm sure it will get better but I still don't like it. They def need to shorten the shot clock and allow six fouls.

I would much rather have watched a game last year in the fifties than this year in the eighties when nearly half those points are free throws.
