Dante Buford's impact on next season?

Hmmm

Not many drive and finish highlights, but I'll admit, his jumper looks much better than I remember it being. I don't think there is any question he'll be our starting 4 (at this point, assuming we don't add anybody) next year. He's a near spitting image replacement for Cam.

He won't have to score a lot with what we have coming back, so I won't garner a guess on averages, but I think he'll be a pretty good player by the end of his freshman year. Seems like a kid LK can mold into a contributor from day 1.

That would give us a bench of Hornbeak, Booker, Lattin, Bennett, and McNease.

Wish we had one more solid guard option (mostly in case of injury), or a stud big man, but that is solid.

I know the coaches have basically penciled him as our 4 and he fits a stretch 4 pretty nicely, which means to the disappointment of some that Spangler is going to be our 5 next year.

I think he has a chance to be a really good player and soon, Cam was ranked #36 in Rivals when he came out and I think Buford is a better prospect then him. He has some crazy athleticism.

We need more size and a shot blocking presence down low...not a 6'6 freshman. I hope Bennet and Spangler start, with Buford and Lattin backing them up. Bennet played well when he got some minutes.

I think the ideal scenario would be to have Spangler develop a face up game so he came play the 4 or 5. I would love to see Lattin and Spangler start and Buford be the 1st off the bench with Bennett getting about 12-15 mins a game. However it seems Spangler will be the 5 again and Buford be the 4, which is fine by me since we can go bigger a lot more next year when we need to.

We'll at least have more lineup options to work with.

Bennett and Spangler playing alongside each other would destroy our offense.

What about Lattin at the 5 and Spangler at the 4 with hield cousins and Woodard? And if we wanted a tall lineup had Buford at the 3?

I doubt Latin will be ready to start and Buford is a 4. Wood, buddy, and Isaiah are locked and loaded. Jelon could start but I don't see it happening

This is overstating things. I don't think we will look exactly the same offensively next season. The emphasis this offseason will be to improve defensively and be more versatile offensively. Post offense and attacking the basket will be at the top of the list. Spangler and Bennett will both get better and I think Spangler has the skills to be a very effective scorer from the free throw line in. I expect Buford to start but, if he improves like I think he will, I see Spangler showing flashes of what Roe did his SR season.

Agree, look at what all of our favorite Sooners have done in offseasons under the new staff. Whether it's young guys like Buddy, Cousins or Hornbeak show a huge improvement over their freshman years, or even taking an older player and adding to his game like Roe, Cam Clark and Neal, this staff knows how to make players better every year.

I don't think there is any reason not to expect Spangler to add to his game, as well as Bennett to get more polished in his. We always focus on the jump of freshman to sophomore, and probably rightfully so as it's the biggest jump a player can usually make, so Woodard and Booker could be making that leap, but I am so impressed to see what they did to Roe and Cam Clark.
