GAME 20 - OKLAHOMA (15-4) @ TEXAS A&M (15-5) 8:00pm CST on SEC NETWORK

I checked quickly and am pretty sure we have one road win over a tourney team in four years, that being at Iowa State two years ago.

No, close doesn’t necessarily mean we competed. It can mean the other team played poorly. I could drive 5 miles from my house and walk into any number of high school gyms and find close games in which both teams make dumb mistakes, play sloppy ball, and don’t play particularly hard.
We'll agree to disagree. I thought aTm played well and competed hard. I also thought our defense played hard and aggressive. Our defense had a lot to do with their missed shots. We just couldn't get a damn rebound :-(.

I saw multiple posts about being appreciative that we at least competed... nails on the chalkboard for me.
Yeah, some people are trying to find a silver lining somewhere. Bottom line: We lose to Vandy and the season is essentially over.

But rebounding is part of the defensive possession. If I sprint out of the batter’s box for 60 feet but then jog the last 30 feet, I didn’t run hard. To me, guarding your man till the shot goes up, but then failing again and again to do what it takes to get the rebound, isn’t playing hard.

Truthfully, OU is a good team in the best conference.

JMO, OU makes the tournament in EVERY other conference.
This sounds about right. In theory it's not supposed to matter because you only have one résumé, not an OOC one and a conference one. With your great ooc wins y'all should probably be a lock at 6-12.

We'll see but I don't totally trust the committee to fairly assess that kind of record.

Do you always have to have the last word?? the guy isn’t gloating or anything…some just don’t choose to look at everything from the most negative lenses possible!!

You yourself, before the season, said this roster was trash. We were picked to finish 15th in the league, under those conditions..did we have any business even having a chance to win this game?? Heck we have no business even being in the tourney discussion at all…so why are we? Because we have the worst coach in the nation? Make it make sense….

sunshine pumper reporting for duty. look, we snagged one in arky. we were garbage tonight, it doesn’t make many of us feel very confident that we will get the wins needed. so i am realistic that this probably won’t happen. but if we go 4-2 at home and snag another road dub at maybe ole miss (how great that would be, f chris beard), then we have a great shot. 7 gets you in because this conference is going to beat each other up, and we need to be in the middle of the middle of the pack…somehow.

But surely those preseason picks were wrong since our guards are awesome and way better than last year and tougher and grittier and Sam loves Oklahoma and we have two NBA players on the roster and we would clearly be in the running for a natty if only we had more NIL and got better start times for our home games. Oh and don’t forget the damn refs. Even our own, totally impartial OU announcers think so!

Look, it’s very easy to make sense of it all after 120 games. We have a coach in over his head. With a really good coach, our roster would probably be good enough to get the extra couple wins we need to make the tournament, which should be the absolute minimum standard for OU.

Fun fact of the day: in the 39 seasons before Moser showed up, we missed the tournament 9 times. Old CW will need a miracle to avoid missing it four straight to start (and hopefully end) his career.

If we do make a coaching change after the season (I’m not 100% convinced that will happen), I hope he gets better support from the admin from a financial perspective. We haven’t invested as much in b-ball as other schools have, that’s obvious. I wonder where our NIL budget ranks in the SEC? I would bet anything it’s in the bottom 3. We need better players to get where we all want to be. Players like Sam shouldnt be in our rotation, if we want to finish in the top 1/3 of this league year in & year out. That’s nothing against him, he’s simply taking advantage of the opportunity that he’s been given…but we need more athletic bigs in this league.

I agree that better support would help. And I agree that it’s probably not fair to expect to finish in the top third of this league right now. But I don’t think any of us who want Moser fired have expected that. It is fair, though (IMO) to expect to make the tournament. And it’s fair to expect him to be able to win home games against Texas and A&M and some of the other teams that have dealt us devastating losses in recent years. And it’s fair to wonder why the hell Wague was on the bench for six weeks, or why we still don’t really have a consistent rotation. And it’s fair to question his scheduling philosophy, or the lack of player development outside of Moore and Soares. NIL may well be limiting our ceiling, but our floor shouldn’t be this low. We shouldn’t be at a place where a lot of our fans and even media were incredibly encouraged after winning a couple games against teams that have combined to go 1-14 in the league.

Waking up to fun forum chat...so much negativity for a close loss where we competed on the road to a Top-15 team. (but KP 18)

BTW, OU jumped up from 43 to 41 in KenPom after last night and added .10 points of NetRtg.

Fears needs a wake up call, Dayton needs more run, Wague needs more time, and Sam needs his scholarship refunded. (partially kidding)

I know, it’s just hard not to be negative when the team gets destroyed on the boards and our best player puts up a goose egg in a crucial league game. We’re just so poorly coached. There are very few opportunities to pick up wins in this league and this was one of them. Especially when you consider how badly A&M shot the ball.

Seems like OU teams have been soft for years now. 🙁

I’m more concerned with Fears’ lack of scoring than the loss itself. I never expected OU to win. But, how does he not score? Lottery picks don’t go scoreless. It’s a completely different game if he even gets 10 points.

His line was brutal, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 3 fouls.
