If Capel is not frozen out of AAU; then why

Losing hasn't helped along with the ncaa allegations but I do believe AAU coaches don't like Jeff. The schools that recruit the top talent have links to aau coaches that help push kids to certain schools.

There was an article in ny times that discussed it how it is now influencing football recruiting.

I know a few coaches here in Houston that confirmed it to me after I saw it mentioned on another board a few months ago.

Maybe because OU hasn't recruited any 2011 Dallas area AAU players hard this year. The DFW area doesn't have many great PGs in the 2011 class or Big men. The two needs the staff has identified.

The staff is still working hard on the Dallas area for 2012 and it seems they have at least made some good connections. As much as I'm not on the Capel bandwagon at the moment even I'm not going to pile on the guy by jumping at rumors like this.

Jeff Capel seems like a nice guy.... why wouldnt they work with him?

Of course, Tommy Callahan Jr. said the same thing about Ray Zalinski, and I think we all know how that turned out.

If AAU coaches like Capel, why hasn't he landed any top high school talent this year? It's obvious that since Coach O was let go, OU hasn't been able to land top players.

Does Julius Randle from Dallas count? He visited OU for the Florida State football game, if I recall correctly, and is listing OU.

Weren't the Harrison twins from Houston also in town for that weekend? Do those guys not play AAU ball?

And according to the link below Shaquille Cleare from Houston has been to OU.

Their Houston Defenders teammate, Shaquille Cleare (Humble, TX/The Village) will also make the trip to Lawrence for Late Night. The class of 2012 big man stands 6’9″ 285 pounds, and according to Harrison Sr., possesses great hands and great feet for his size.

Besides their trip to Kentucky, and their upcoming trip to Kansas, all three players have been to Texas, OU, Texas A&M and Arizona.

No, but in your first post you asked "If that is not the case why are we not in on any?" And I just posted about four guys from Dallas/Houston who OU was "in on" enough to get to visit Norman unofficially. Hell, I want Capel fired too. Maybe I should just role with these types of rumors.

Nah the university obviously should have clung to OT like grim death at the risk of burning the entire athletic department to the ground so they wouldn't risk bumming out any AAU coaches.
