I think most of us will agree that the ideal time for a player to come into his own is at conference time. If the first three Big 12 games is a sign of what we can expect in future games, Khadeem Lattin is doing exactly that.

In 11 non-conference games he averaged 6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots. In the first three conference games those averages increased to 8 ppg, 10 rpg and a very impressive 5 blocks per game. It should also be noted that two of those games were against KU and ISU, arguably two of the best teams OU will face in Big 12 play this season.

Don't you know stats are meaningless

Good stuff Ada.

Here is an interesting question: Today in the Big-12, who are the best players playing the "5" position?

Personally, I'd vote for Devin Williams of WVU or Jameel McKay of ISU as the best 5's in the conference (I consider Gathers and Perry Ellis 4's). Lattin is gaining on them both tho...

He has made huge strides in both sides of the ball. Has a bright future. No reason he couldn't be a 18pt 10rb 4bl guy next year.

His grandfather's stats as a senior

"David averaged 29 points, 19 rebounds and 13 blocks per game as a senior"

Something to aspire to. :woot

Glory Road is on tonight, was just poking around on the web

I just wish he was as good as Mitchell Soloman at OSU.

Has that
Espn acknowledged how ridiculous that was.

Good question. I like the Johnathon Motley kid from Baylor. I guess Perry Ellis is the 5 for KU. Jameel McKay from ISU. Devin Williams from WVU. Maybe even Cameron Ridley if he hadn't gotten hurt.

I also agree with AdaSooner about Lattin stepping things up. He has improved more than anyone on the team since the beginning of the season IMHO.

He will be better than Mckay by the end of the year!! I would say 3rd 4th best Center in the league. Next year he should be top 2 or 3.. His offense will come next year I bet..

Lattin for Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year?

He'd be in the running for NPOY if that was the case...tap the brakes. He is fulfilling his role perfectly.

How in the heck do you average 13 blocks a game? That is nuts

I agree. I think he can be a double double guy or 9 and 9 type guy next year. If he works like Cousins and Hield have demonstrated, I think he can be a 13-15 point scorer and 10 rebound type guy as a senior. But to score like that, he has to develop the ability to consistently create his own offense with post moves or outside shooting. I think he will be able to shoot over people before he leaves.

18 points is huge. Buddy was conference player of the year at 17.4 ppg and he didn't have 10 rebounds and 4 blocks to go with it.
