March Madness and Covid-19

While that is true, I just read an article in a Newsweek article stating that the Coronavirus is now the leading cause of death in the USA. More people are presently dieing from it than cancer or heart disease. I was hopeful a few weeks back when only 1.2% were dieing from it in the USA. The percentages were lowering by the day. Unfortunately, 1.2% was as low as it got, and has been trending upward since.

Yes. I want to be optimistic, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing a drastic DROP in cases and deaths...can't happen soon enough.

It’s because everyone with heart disease that has a fatal heart attack when they’ve tested positive COVID, gets marked in the COVID death column. The reporting is inaccurate and misleading.

I'm not attempting to marginalize COVID or its direct effect on our health as a society. However, it is important to keep some perspective in times like these. Below are the leading causes of death (2018 data) in the US:

  • Heart Disease - 655,381
  • Cancer - 599,274
  • Accidents/Unintentional Injuries - 167,127
  • COPD/Lower Respiratory - 159,486
  • Stroke/Cerebrovascular - 147,810
  • Alzheimers - 122,109
  • Diabetes - 84,946
  • Influenza/Pneumonia - 59,120
  • Kidney Disease - 51,386
  • Suicide - 48,344

Again, I'm not discounting COVID, but there is a good chance that accumulative deaths from COVID will be below all of these mortalities.

Does "accidents, unintentional injuries" cover drug overdoses?

Covid is also only been killing people for a short period of time like 3 weeks...it will catchup quickly if nothing is done

Covid-19 has been in the united states since Jan 15th and that is the "official" date

it likely have been in the united states since mid December

there is a reasonable chance that millions and millions of people have or have had Covid-19

So up until today (April 9th) they have opened 1 drive-thru testing site? What a crock of ****. When they all stood up there that day with Trump I should have known they wouldn't come through.

Do you need to be reminded about Boulder’s warning? I can repost it for you if you want.

I am not ripping on politics... Trump did the right thing to get them involved. I am bashing on CVS and Walmart for getting 1 testing station by April 9th. We are WELL into this, and they stood up there and acted like it was going to happen within a week.

If your criticism was meant to be directed at CVS and Walmart, what did standing “up there that day with Trump” have to do it?

Boulder said when there is any question if a post is political, don’t post it! Seems clears enough to to me!

Also yall pushed the limit too far so NO MORE POLITICS in this thread or it will be locked and this topic will also be off limits ..

If you think there is a chance that what you are going to post is in any way political

DO NOT POST IT

You are so predictable. Do you hit from the red tees?

For you and your kind everything is to be instantaneous. Could you just try and wake up as if it's "not" all about you. Rite aid, Walmart and CVS have provided thousands of tests to this point.

Usually the mens tees, depending on the course. For example, I play from the championship tees from South Lakes in Jenks, because its so short.

And I take it you are super unpredictable?

Because I would think that standing shoulder to shoulder on national television with the President of the United States would add some seriousness to it. I mean, Pence and Trump kinda stuck their neck out for these guys.

Maybe they have done the right thing, but to only have 1 testing center up by now doesn't smell right to me. That's not on Trump. I truly believe when they were standing there committing to things Trump wanted to see more than we have gotten. That's not on him.

I took what you said and the way you said it as another excuse to point an accusing finger at the President. It’s not like you’re innocent of doing that when you can.

But, if I’m wrong, I apologize. The best way to avoid another reading comprehension error on my part? Take Boulder at his word and don’t post anything if it’s political.

On another topic. Do a little research on China’s involvement in starting and then covering up the Covid-19 virus. There are plenty of news stories online to choose from, and they’re not all conservative publications.

Also Fauchi's link to Bill Gates. Interesting reading...

Uh-oh. I just looked at the Worldometer and China is reporting 42 new cases today and one new death. Granted, at this point, we can’t trust anything they put out. That said, up until now, they have only been accused of under-reporting. I know it has only been recently which they are now forming large groups of people in one area, but I’m hoping someone can politely tell me I’m overreacting to the new cases.

We are extremely lucky to have experts on this board. When I sometimes drop in, I am relieved to see some of the data given, because i'm trying to get informed. So, being mostly in the dark about all this, maybe some of the experts can answer some questions for me.

1. How many more Coronavirus deaths will it take to catch the yearly average for flu deaths?
2. Are all deaths being coded as Coronavirus deaths for those that have tested positive, even if the cause of death might be something else?
3. Yearly, how effective is the flu vaccine in corralling every strain of the flu? And if not completely effective, and people have died, why wasn't anything closed down... Nothing? Did our leaders not value human life in the past?
4. With the supposed bungled nature of testing here in the US, how can we be sure that the first case in the US was in January?

Lots of places I could have asked these questions, but accurate info about this virus seems to come at a rocket pace on this board. Thank you very much in advance for any answers!
