March Madness and Covid-19

By the way, I just got tested for CV a little over an hour ago. It's probably not that, but my doc said she has had some patients present with mild pneumonia symptoms (which is kind of what I have) that ended up testing positive. They did a chest x-ray, and based on the meds I've already been taking, they ruled out a few other things.

So we'll see. :)

Edit: I was told I've have the results tomorrow. So about 24 hour expected turnaround in this case.

Agreed. Open some things back up and just have some pretty strict rules about masks/gloves and whatever else might make sense. If you open up places like barber shops, have strict limitations on how many folks can be in there at a given time.

And they HAVE to get the testing done quicker. That would solve so many issues if they could test and get results within an hour or so.

One of my biggest complaints has been our failures in getting testing done. We should’ve been ramping up the production of the tests and the lab capabilities for the last 3 months. We’re still lagging behind. Hopefully, the quick turn around testing makes its way to every state soon. That combined with antibody testing could help identify the hot spots that need more attention.

What if we never find a vaccine? At some point, we have to move forward. We can’t stay locked in our houses forever.

Good luck man, I hope you don't have it!

I guess the weekly card game with Coach and Wichita is all but off! You'll be okay.

Just heard something disturbing. The first patient that died in Pittsburgh County (McAlester) died on Sunday. He was in a long-term facility and was sent to the hospital for surgery (I don't know what kind of surgery he had.) Before the facility would take him back they insisted on a Covid-19 test. The test was negative, so he went back to the facility. A couple of days later he started having Covid-19 symptoms. So they tested him again and he was negative. He was getting worse so they sent him back to the hospital. They tested him last Thursday in the hospital. He died on Sunday. His results came back on Monday and he was positive. There are about 100 scenarios going on in my head concerning this case and none of them are good.

2,347 Covid-19 deaths so far in this 24 hour period. The most in 1 day and counting.

The VA says our peak won’t be until around May 1st

It would be a terrible mistake to “reopen” too early.

He didn’t say we’re reopening. He said elective surgeries will begin again in 9 days and we’ll begin to look at ways to reopen.

I don't disagree with the approach given that we have the bed-space above our max projected peak and resources aren't significantly stressed. That's all we're trying to get past anyway. Beyond that peak rush it's a matter of competent care and giving them the support they need. Hopefully the attention this has all shone will do that. I see lots of positives here.

Sending up a prayer for you. Hopefully you get good news on your test results.

Give us an update as soon as you get the results, WT. You’ll be in my prayers!

Negative for CV. Being treated as walking pneumonia for now. Hopefully meds will help me shake this over the next week.

Good news, WT! Pneumonia is not a diagnosis you wish for, but it’s better than the Covid virus.

Trying to attach an image of a graph. We'll see if it works. I created a graph of hospitalized COVID patients and persons under investigation (PUI) who are hospitalized in Oklahoma.
