Alrighty, sorry for the delay, but here's today's COVID OK data dump. We have resulted 11,258 tests since Friday for a total of 263,882. Today, we have 186 new COVID cases to add to our growing list of 8417. Today, for the first time since we have been tracking it, Tulsa county now leads the state in total cases at 1653, with 89 (or 47% of all new cases) of those being newly reported today. Oklahoma county slightly elevated over the normal 20-30 we've been seeing coming in at 46 new cases today. Cleveland county looking like it has for the last several days at 6, and today Canadian county had it's biggest jump in weeks with 6 new cases.
Here's what we know about Tulsa. There are 2 significant outbreaks at this time. One at the Whirlpool, and one at IC bus manufacture facility. There are 49 confirmed cases at the bus plant, and they are planning to test all 1600 employees this week and the plant is closed at this time. It was reported (not confirmed yet) that there were upwards of 200 cases at the Whirlpool plant as well.
We now stand at 79% recovery rate with 6628 achieving that status. Our recovery rate is currently going down because we are adding more cases faster (due to the Tulsa breakout) than are recovering. We have had no additional deaths since Friday. We have 98 COVID pos in the hospital and 74 PUI at this time. Those with COVID symptoms are currently using 75 ICU beds. These numbers are slightly increased over Friday's numbers, but not alarmingly so. For now.
We have added 569 new COVID cases since Friday. Of those, 377 are between the ages of 18-49, in the lowest risk group. Remember, this age group is twice as likely to die of seasonal influenza than COVID! Only 90 in the last 3 days of data have been in the highest risk group of 50+, which is reassuring. Considering Tulsa is in an active spike, the state overall, is showing only mild elevations in cases. With the opening of the state, and recent protest activity, I am not alarmed, yet. Tulsa is a much higher populated area than Guymon, so an outbreak in Tulsa county is gonna look really gnarly. There is so much cross travel from Tulsa to OKC that it sure increases the risk of it spreading more quickly here. So, STAY OUTTA TULSA.
Don't freak out tomorrow if the positive numbers go through the roof. Both Whirlpool, and IC are now doing widespread testing in a known positive population. Keep your eyes on hospitalizations and deaths. And put a mask over your face. PLEASE. And wash, sanitize and be kind to each other.
I made myself "followable" on Facebook now, so I won't be accepting friend requests from people unless I know you and you message me first. I will also be weeding out those that I don't actually know, so if you are "unfriended" please don't be offended. You can still follow my antics and my posts. I put this on my personal page, and it's gone a little crazy.
