March Madness and Covid-19

In a medical facility? You don't say.

Individual businesses can make them, but if you think the Federal or State governments can mandate masks for public, it's not going to happen. Period.

People need to learn to look out for themselves, and stop expecting the government and other people to be 100% committed to looking out for others. That simply isn't reality.

You don’t understand how pandemics work. The government CAN force you to wear a mask in public. Do you not get this? It’s already being done.

the gov't can most certainly make people wear them. public safety issues are well within their rights. this is a rather lame hill to stand on.

You can't make people do that. So wear your OWN damn mask to protect yourself if you have to be out in public. Those not wanting to are putting themselves more at risk than others. That is their right. And if they come down with the CV and it kills them or affects their lives, that is on them.

Wearing masks could be compared to smoking in public.

IF you want to smoke....you do it at home or away from the public.

IF you don't want to wear a mask....do it at home or away from the public.

Much like smoking, when you don't wear a mask, you put others in harms way.

27% of Miami-Dade coronavirus tests are coming back positive. Worldwide the US has 4% of the world's population but 25% of the worlds' covid-19 cases and deaths.

27% is absolutely an unbelievable number. Those are New York numbers.

Today 30.5 million Americans (out of 328 million total or 9.4%) are receiving employment assistance money of some kind. At this same time last year that number was 3.5 million. That's how many people are DOCUMENTED to be suffering financially. By contrast in 1933 at the height of the great depression that number was 15 million (out of 125 million total or 12%). Things are bad and according to the new curve we havent seen the worst yet.

...and your solution is to lock everybody in their homes even longer?

No, that has proven to be an epic failure. Sadly, people policing themselves has also been an epic failure. At this point, I’m all for mandatory wearing masks in public - at least for the states whose people can’t comprehend the importance of exercising common sense.

Won't be done. Too hard to police. Too many exceptions. Religious exceptions. Medical exceptions. Exceptions for eating/drinking. The list goes on and on and on.

I’m all for wearing masks in public. Those who do are helping to protect people like me who are in that high risk category. I would be a fool to oppose anything that will keep senior citizens like my wife and I safe.

Masks may not be 100% safe for everyone. But no one can convince me they’re not better than nothing at all.

doesn't have to be that enforceable. the inconvenience alone helps. it amazes me that you choose this ridiculous hill to stand on. shameful really.

Well it's a good thing I give zero f*cks about your opinion of me then, isn't it?

The easier solution is for those most at risk to stay home and protect themselves. Let this thing burn through the rest of the population at a ridiculously low mortality rate, and see where we sit in a few months. Cases are up, but so far hospitalizations and deaths are not. I fully expect that to continue. The fact that FAR more people are NOT wearing masks and don't want to speaks to how this is going to play out going forward, regardless of the thoughts of some washed up hack sitting in front of his computer in Oklahoma City.

Most of the spread isn't coming from walking by somebody on the street, ordering food, or being in Walmart. It's the larger gatherings, in confined spaces, for a length of time. I'm all for people in those settings wearing masks. Or avoiding those settings.

No, it speaks more to the fact that people who havent the foggiest clue keep interjecting their inane chatter and it confuses those who are naive or dumb enough to listen. every single person who has told me they refuse to wear a mask accompanied their claim with absolute bull**** as support. some people need to think about the implications of their lies and the lives they are risking. it's not just their lives that will be affected ... it will also affect someone unfortunate enough to be around their ignorant, selfish asses.
