This is a pretty big risk for Putin and Russia. You would think they would have to be really confident in the vaccine for this. Apparently they are taking orders all over the world for it.

If it screws people up it would be a huge dent in their reputation (which in this country can't get much worse, but not true in lots of places), national pride, Putin's goals of putting Russia back on the world stage.

Covid is the challenge facing the entire world right now, and if you (as the leader of your country) show up at the podium and say you have part of the answer to a world problem, you are taking a big risk if its a flop, if its fake, if it doesn't work, if it hurts people, etc.

Because gold has been feeding off of the uncertainty created by the pandemic for one. The price of gold increased by $600 per ounce in the past year and corrections based on overbought conditions occur. Equity markets performing well pulls investment dollars out of gold, too. And good news about the virus should strengthen the dollar and gold's move is inversely related to the dollar.

I’m not surprised you didn’t mention Jimmy Stewart. My guess is he’s at least two generations removed from your time as a movie buff. Watch the Civil War flick, “Shenandoah.” Stewart’s performance will bring tears to your eyes. I lost track of the number of times I have seen that movie.
