Joe Biden and the dems lost the election today. Biden’s handlers made a terrible mistake by continuing to go off the rails too far left. They’re done.
You don't understand the demographics. You are living in a bubble.
It's estimated that over 60% of voters approve Medicare For All. A vast majority of Democratic Voters support it.
Polling has shown over 60% of American's support tuition free college... 7 out of 10 Democrat voters support it. 86% of African American voters support tuition free college. 75% of all voters under age 30 support it.
64% of ALL VOTERS support a progressive tax on the ultra rich... Nearly 80% of all Democrats support forms of wealth tax.
Polls have shown over 70% of Democratic voters support a Green New Deal. When the Green New Deal is broken down into pieces, it has large support even outside the party. 77% of all voters (GOP and Dem) want a national commitment to clean energy. 67% of all voters (GOP and Dem) support trying to get to 100% clean energy in 10 years. 81% of Dems and 46% of Republicans want to set a national deadline for zero carbon emissions. 76% of Democrats and 39% of Republicans want to set a date for which we stop production of oil and gas and switch to all renewable energy.
These politicians are moving left because their constituency has moved left. They aren't forcing left on their voters, their voters have moved left. That's why Biden moved left.
Right-wing media is pushing a narrative that Joe Biden is now being controlled by far left handlers... That isn't true at all. Biden is shifting politically to his voting base. The entire party is shifting to a Democratic base that has become far more "left" since 2008. That is really when the shift began. Polling shows overwhelming support among party voters for these policies that you consider "radical".
Colorado (which used to be a swing state) elected an openly gay, progressive Governor. Biden is up on Trump by 13 points in Colorado.
Texas elected Ted Cruz with 50.9% of the vote, and Beto O'Rourke, who is a Bernie-style progressive Democrat garnered 48.3% of the vote. Cruz barely escaped that election, IN TEXAS, against someone who is essentially a Democratic Socialist. TEXAS. Cruz was 2nd nationally to Trump in the GOP primaries for President.
There are lots of other examples of this, but the shift in the Democratic base is obvious. It reveals itself in the polling numbers. Democratic voters want free college, clean energy, Medicare, expanded social security, and want to fight income inequality and the tax system.
