If I said I was so hungry "I could eat a horse" and do not eat a horse does that make me a liar?

Did you say it to intend to deceive or mislead that you could actually eat a horse? Then yes, it is a definition of a lie.

so you just pick Biden out of the air and accuse me of a double standard because I havent said much about him? what kind of ignorant argument is that?

OK, I noticed you havent admonished OJ in your ignorant diatribe so I guess you support murderers. oh wait ... you didnt say anything bad about Jeffrey Dahmer so I guess you support cannibalism? Oh oh ... I know ... I didnt see you at the anti-cancer protest so I guess you're for cancer huh?

ignorance. Trump is the PRESIDENT. He's supposed to act properly. Biden isn't anything other than a candidate. grow up.

It has nothing to do with whether you talk about Joe or not. It is whether you perceive him as a liar for being misinformed or not. So, do you?

Joe is running for prez. If you believe he becomes prez and then changes his way that is one thing, but if you believe he responds the same way then that is obviously different

Some teachers utilize different teaching practices but still are effective at being a teacher. Agree or not agree? Some parents utilize different parenting skills yet raise quality kids. Agree or disagree? That you believe there is only one mold in which to use is not realistic.

Look up the definition of a lie. This is exactly what a lie is.

  • an assertion of something known or believed by the speaker or writer to be untrue with intent to deceive.
  • an untrue or inaccurate statement that may or may not be believed true by the speaker or writer
  • something that misleads or deceives

However, I will agree that all politicians lie or misuse the truth to their advantage. Saying one party or political belief has a leg up on honesty or tells more lies, well, is a lie.

In philosophy/political theory, i dont feel like googling who said this, but the "medicinal lie" theorized that at times the gov will have to lie to the losers (i.e. run of the mill citizens like you and me - not "super important and valuable" people like politicians.. lol) in order to keep social order basically.

Im not saying thats whats happening here, just that ive accepted that we never get the 100% truth from any politician regardless of party. Sometimes they say crap for other reasons well never see or know

You asked me if I intended to deceive or mislead. If you knew this then why ask me?

Wow, good one. I think that was Plato, and I have never heard it put that way especially applied toward politics.

Give me the jerk that gets results over the nice guy that either does nothing or moves politically in a manner not in line with my beliefs.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I have contempt for most politicians regardless.

For instance, I'm Jewish. As long as you treat me with respect when we are face to face, I don't care what you've said privately or the thoughts in your head....it's none of my business.

Lol. I asked because I don't know if you intended for me to believe you were actually going to eat a horse.

If you were trying to deceive me and no intention of eating a horse, it is a lie.

If you told me if you like your doctor, you can keep them, with the intent of deceiving me, that is a lie.

If you told me, this is the largest crowd size ever. Period. with the intent of deceiving me from the truth that it wasn't, that is a lie.

Not all statements are a lie. Some can be hyperbole. But when you intend to deceive to be taken literally, that is when a hyperbole becomes a lie.

yall have still done a very good job keeping politics out of this ...

but just as a reminder please keep politics out of this ..

carry on

Wishing a probable top 5 president would resign is so unconscionable to me

more ignorance.

You made my point for me and thank you for doing so in your first statement. The point is if I exaggerate something you cannot definitively assess that I am intending to deceive and mislead no more than anyone else. It is all a guess and a presumption. And I will continue to believe that a lack of respect for someone will hinder the objectivity that we have for others.

The ACC just announced they have suspended all members from competing in any athletics, including ncaa championships. It's a wrap, just a matter of time now

I agree with this, and feel the same. I was glad we elected somebody that isn't a life long politician.

It is noise vs results. Some think results are the more important of the two while certain elements of society think noise is more relevant.

And I am inclined to believe that those who focus on noise are those who have no results. If you have no results you have to find something else to hang your hat on.
