Are we really arguing about how well-known a senator is???? Kill me now.
Because he's a senator from Kentucky which means he's definitely known there, but that doesn't preclude him being known elsewhere.
It looks like the Worldometer was not working correctly when I last checked it. Now, we're down to 32,356 cases, but 414 deaths - obviously a lot more than 1%. They had shown NY as having nearly 23K cases, now it is under 16K. I see the World Map is showing 14,599 deaths and 334,530 cases (.04%).

You either brought it to light how people take after their leaders or you did not. If you make a claim of how we live in a "follow the leader world" then be prepared to back it up. Just show us one person who does as Rand does and this is not to include those with a bad hairdo and I mean really bad hairdo. Woof!
It's been proven time and time again that people take their cues from leadership. Now, I'm done talking about this idiotic topic.
China
No new cases in several days. China has dispatched 300 intensive-care doctors, Covid-19 test kits, protective clothing, ventilators, masks, and medical supplies to provide assistance to the Italians.

United States
Donald Trump has reached out to Kim Jong Un of North Korea. Repeatedly claiming that we are helping many other nations, while the mayor of New York is pleading with him to help New York City more. We are clearly behind the curve on supplies, equipment, tests, etc, and Trump claims we are helping other countries, and he has spent time reaching out to freaking North Korea in the face of a national crisis.
Can assistance come in the form of know how?
You can't make this stuff up.

I ,as well as Stormspencer, in addition to others on this board have stated that we do not pattern our lives after politicians. Can you say the same, and if not, then which sitting politician do you imitate. If you do not then why are you professing that others do. Is it because you believe you have it more together more than others? Instead of telling us what others do why don't you keep the focus on what you do and leave it to others to make their own determination.
Your math is wrong, that's 4.3%, but we will see what it is later, it's still very early.
Can assistance come in the form of information?
I mean what supplies does the article state we are sending them?

Not only do I not pattern my life or take cues from politicians, I also don't take them from athletes, professional or college coaches, Hollywood-types, or many, MANY other classifications of people.
I agree with stevie that some folks do, but that is part of the problem with our society, not a reason to expect those people (politicians, athletes, etc) to act a certain way.
Because that's not how society or life works. What others do affects me and you and everyone else. And as someone who has taken several graduate level leadership classes at the University of Oklahoma, I can tell you that people take their cues from leadership. Organizational culture is styled after the leaders that run the organizations. Cultures of countries are influenced by leadership. Individual behavior is influenced by leadership. When a senator or a group of senators or a president acts in a a particular way, people notice and they, either consciously or sub-consciously, react. This has been proven empirically and decisively.
You don't get to just sit there and say, "Well *I* don't do that so it must not be true!" That's not how anything works.
Again, most people despise politicians, especially members of congress, so to think like they are the only leaders who people look up to falls short. To the best of my knowledge there are no political leaders today with the name of "John Fitzgerald Kennedy." You have previously stated how we are old and that is in part part of the problem for society has morphed whether we like it or not and people do not place as much importance on individual politicians like they used to. It is a different world as opposed to possibly a different world. The idea that people today, we Oklahomans, follow in the footsteps of Inhofe is a ludicrous one at that. I think more people than not have surfed the web to find what precautions to take way more than just blindly following politicians in general.
The fact that North Korea even entered his brain troubles me.
Please point out where I said politicians "are the only leaders who people look up to."
I'll wait.
I did not say you believe they are the only leaders, but they seem to be the ones you reference the most.
Because we were talking about Rand freaking Paul!
