March Madness and Covid-19

Are you suggesting that people take cues after their leaders and that Paul was the only time you referenced political leaders? What about when you mentioned the governor or when you mention the "head honcho." You have done it numerous times Steven.

First off, my name isn't "Steven." Second, of course I've mentioned politicians in other contexts, but this was a very specific conversation ABOUT POLITICIANS. Why would I mention basketball players, or plumbers, or tattoo artists, or basket weavers in the context of a conversation about politicians, why???

I really am finished with this idiotic discussion.

In other news, the Ohio governor has issued a stay-at-home order, effective immediately. Louisiana's stay-at-home order takes effect Monday at 5 pm. Still nothing in Oklahoma statewide, but several cities have ordered businesses closed.

Speaking of having no use for politicians, I’m reminded of a Jay Leno joke from early this century before we invaded Iraq. Apparently, Saddam Hussein invited CONGRESS into his country to go ahead and search for weapons of mass destruction. Jay’s response: “As if we don’t have enough reasons to bomb Iraq, you want to send Congress over there?”

Hahaha

I'm looking at the latest stats as of 2:30 PM EST on 03/22. We're up to 38,167 cases in the USA and 396 deaths. While I'm not trying to pass this off as good news, I believe people are slowly becoming less terrified as the death rate continues to decrease. Based on these numbers, we're down to only a shade over 1%. NY is doing the most testing and they're down to .5%. Once the dust settles, we'll likely be well under .5%. I don't know what the percentage is, but believe our leaders have a number in mind which they'll decide to open things back up - coupled with the leveling off of the number of cases.

Why? this number means nothing at the moment. It's unreliable and more of a pointless statistic until you meet or match criteria for protocol. And the factor for healthcare personnel is not even present. useless.

BUT, it's most useless because you can just be reinfected by this thing.

Because the fight against the virus involves more than politicians and that is why. I do not recall you bringing up other supposed leaders in the general discussion for your default has been political in nature.

Well the number is wrong in any event, and you're correct, there are reports of reinfection.

There really is no evidence of how big a player that is at this point in time, speaking of reinfection.

And do you know how your buddy is presently doing? Better, worse, status quo?

The country of Greece has now locked down the entire country as their number of cases has skyrocketed.

Mitt Romney has now gone into quarantine due to his proximity to Rand Paul in recent days and won't be voting on the upcoming relief package.

1. reinfection exists so that means you must assume in your planning that you have to eradicate it totally or isolate it. you dont just not do anything. thats not how leadership works. you have to take in the facts and pick a direction.

2. chris will be lucky to get through the day. he's not doing well at all.

Where are you reading this? Unless something changed recently, this is still unknown. Having antibodies or presence of the virus after recovering symptomatically is not the same thing as reinfection.

Awwwww.... hate reading this part.

there are many of them ... plus if you can't explain why it can't then you assume it can for planning.

I didn't read every word of all four of those articles (I've never heard of any of them), but I skimmed through a couple, and it didn't seem that they had confirmed risk of reinfection to any significant extent. Just that there was some concern for it.

But we do have an explanation: the adaptive immune system.

On a side note I was born @Doctors' (I know it is no longer in service). Better than Bellevue (loon-ville).

Yeah, my Asian girlfriend has already experienced racism and hatred during this pandemic so you can GFY.

Hey Boulder, I'm sure I missed the ban warning for this one.

Dallas Texas has issued a shelter-in-place order. The cases there have skyrocketed. Wow that’s too close for comfort.
