There should be NOTHING else in the bill. Period. It should be 100% about helping the people and companies most affected by this. Dems showing their true colors.

Majority Whip James Clyburn (D., S.C.) told caucus members last week that the bill was “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”

They should shed their undergarments and do away with the binding aspect. Might result in increased blood flow. Stranger things have happened.

puh-leeze. trickle down is complete BS so dont get me started there. would you like me to show you how business spends that bail-out money historically? first let me pull up the names of the off-shore bank accounts in which it all resides now. PEOPLE on the other hand put the money right back into the economy where we need it. companies can get bent.

In other words: me, me, me, me, me, me, me! It's about what's in it for them as opposed to a thing called WE THE PEOPLE!

lol, what? Most of this money isn't meant for the largest of corporations. Heck, the family limit was around $65k. This is to help those that need help. I agree with not handing Amazon a check for however much. Doesn't mean families and small businesses don't need the help though.

Off-shore bank accounts? Good grief.

It is easier to give the finger to people when you infuse the symbolic hyperbole into the equation. Say something outlandish and you forget what the original convo was about. Mention that Godzilla is on the rampage and you'll forget about being hungry.

I think the travel ban would have worked if we had paired it with aggressive screening, quarantine, and an amped up testing regime, but we didn't do any of those things until it was way too late.

As I mentioned before, my girlfriend's mom flew in from the Philippines on March 14th. She walked right in the terminal at DFW and wasn't screened at all!

This was barely a week ago!

I'm sorry if you don't like the world according to me, but I'm giving my observations in real time, backed up by facts and expertise.

I enjoy your takes. Please keep it up.

Disagree with some of the "talking points" in this article:
1) I agree with "buyback" protections, but companies that even attempt to do this will be excoriated.
2) "Democrats want to use tools the federal government has to get cash directly to those people without requiring them to fill out unnecessary paperwork." I'm sorry, people who fall into this category are likely going to have to fill out some type of paperwork in order to receive these benefits. How would this be tracked otherwise?
3.) Further state aid and food stamps can be addressed now....but how much? It's more efficient right now to get money out to people to absolve immediate financial constraints. I think this item can be addressed more comprehensively in the next bill.
4.) Already a 40 day moratorium order by HUD on foreclosures and evictions has been established by the administration. And this will likely be extended. It can be addressed legislatively in the next bill....which will likely be a few weeks out.
5.) Student loan debt forgiveness....are you kidding me? Not the time nor place. Can be addressed down the road.....good lord.

And this is a Vox article....thus it needs to taken with a spoonful of salt. And of course it doesn't mention anything about the items I listed above because it isn't politically expedient....go figure.

Money NOT going where it's intended to go is the whole point. All you said was "thats not where it's supposed to go". duh.

don't question the off-shore bank account issue either. the wealthy remove money from circulation that the poor put right back into the economy. on a micro AND a macro level it's more feasible to give it to the workers. your view is more than a tad naive.

You stated you were in favor of the China travel ban. Do you want to recant your words?

Are travel bans plural in form?

I was in favor of it, but we did it half-assed and didn't pair it with other measures, so the ban failed. It's all about execution.
