Three of OU’s first five conference games were on the road.
Three of the next five are also on the road.

TCU (Wednesday, January 22)
@ Texas Tech (Saturday, January 25)
OSU (Monday, January 27)
@ Iowa State (Saturday, February 1)
@ West Virginia (Wednesday, February 5)

I'll take another 3-2 record in this five game stretch. No road games are easy, and OSU will be a severe challenge in Norman.

Then OU finishes out with 5 of 8 at home.

Concur. This week is key.

Assuming we take care of TCU at home, Tech could be tricky. Tubby knows what he is doing. However, love how this team battles on the road.

Tubby is getting it going in Lubbock. The Tech game there will be a real fight.

Maybe, but they will still finish in the bottom three of the conference.

If they are going to "steal a couple of wins they probably shouldn't this year", let them do it against somebody other than OU.

I would definitely take 3-2 through this next stretch. If we can somehow manage 4-1, then I think we are challenging for 2nd (yes 2nd) in the Big 12....but I'm not going to hold my breath. At worst, I think we are going to be battling ISU and K-State for 3rd. A 3rd place finish would be an incredible accomplishment for this team this year.

This team is exceeding my expectations, so I don't want to start raising the bar now.

I agree. Tubby has them playing hard and sound basketball. They have a talent problem. This is no knock on our guys. But, Tyler and Booker would start for them.

Tech brought their 'A' game against Baylor, but fortunately for us they also know how to play games w/other letters of the alphabet.

I have said all along that no conference road game will be easy this season. OU should win the game at Tech. But I'll remind everyone that we felt the same way when the Sooners strolled into Lubbock two years ago. Tech won that game by 18, their only conference with that season.

The point is, our players can't afford to look beyond any game or add it to the win column before the final buzzer sounds. Do that, and they're going to end up with another game they should have won but didn't.

Having thrown that in as a reminder that we can't take any conference game for granted, I would take a 3-2 record over the next five games and be very happy with the outcome. My old heart may not be able to handle a 4-1 record.

Got to win the next two. Can't have any steps back. Osu will be a toss up. At Iowa St is probably a loss. At West Virginia will be tough on the road.
Next two are key. 2-3 in the next five does not kill you. 1-4 does. 3-2 would be good.

Why do you say this? Tech has lost to Texas on the road and WVU and ISU at home. They beat TCU (worst team in the conference) on the road and upset Baylor at home. I would attribute the Baylor game to an upset rather than Tech being particularly good until they do a little more to prove otherwise.

Why is at ISU a loss? Obviously it will be tough game but OU matches up well with ISU and has played well on the road so far this season in that they have won two games and had a chance to win against KSU.

Call me an optimist, but I think the swing game in this stretch will be at West Virginia. IMO, that game will determine whether we go 4-1 or 3-2....all things being equal. But then again, I've been wrong before.

Am I the only one that thinks OU can win all 5 games? I am not saying they will but it seems to me many of you think it is out of the question.

I didn't say it was a loss. I said probable loss because Hilton is such a tough place to play. I think it will be a close game no matter the outcome. And OU could win up there.

I think OU can win every game they play, but I feel like it's highly unrealistic. Stringing together 5 conference wins in a row is always tough, doing it in arguably in the toughest conference in the country is near impossible for any team in the Big 12 this year.
