OU unfazed by low expectations

When's you're picked to finish at the bottom of the heap, the only way to go is up. I just don't see a team with four returning starters and three quality additions in Osby, Arent and Grooms finishing dead last in a conference that is not expected to be quite as strong as in years past. Don't get me wrong, there are several good teams. But, none, except for maybe Baylor, will be loaded with star power. That may change as the season progresses and some talented newbies prove to be the real deal.

I'm not saying that OU will compete for the conference title this season. I also don't believe this team will finish last. I think seventh to ninth is more realistic.

Based on what Sam is seeing with Grooms we are going to be rolling out our strongest starting lineup other than the elite 8 roster in quite some time.

Is Osby really a "strength" guy? He looked really lean in his street clothes at Media Day. It could be that sitting next to Holly Rowe makes everyone appear to be skinnier than they actually are.

Even with Sam saying how great Pledger has looked, you still put Newell in the starting lineup. That isn't happening.

I just listed our most athletic guys. Doesn't matter if Pledger or Newell starts they will both be in the rotation as will Tyler Neal & Carl Blair. Not sure about Arent and Washington yet.

Point being this is not some weak, inexperienced roster you have seen recently at OU and what you would expect from a team selected last.
