Our other savior, Robert Goff

I was glad Goff didn't come to OU. Nothing he did in the two games I watched last year impressed me. I said more than once back then that he should never have been offered a scholarship in the first place.

It's not likely a guy who averaged 9 ppg and 6 rpg in junior college would have done much to help this team, except fill a roster spot. Judging by what I saw of Goff and what I have seen of Arent so far, I think OU got the best deal.

They also use common sense, something you clearly lack. NOBODY grades players like you are attempting to do. It's much easier for a guy that isn't very good to play quality basketball for 5 minutes a night, as opposed to 15 minutes a night. You can't just take everybody's averages, and increase them exponentially, and expect that to hold up. That isn't logical. Players get tired, and exposed with increased minutes. They get put in situations that they aren't suited for. Not sure why I'm even explaining this to you. If you don't already "get it", you likely never will.

If you would prefence everything you said with "what I'm about to say has no basis in fact, it is just something that popped into my head" it might be easier to make sense of you point of view. I just explained to you that NBA people do just that. Alot of big money trades are based on just those types of evaluations. Books have been written on the subject.

And since when did you become an expert on judging lodgic. Remember, you are the guy that thinks Pledger can play.

I went through it pretty quick. But, based on rebounds/points per minute played so far this season. "IF" Arent was getting 25 minutes per game he would be averaging about 8 points and 8 rebounds per game.

So, if anyone wants to say Goff is better. Fine. But, it sounds like it is another one of those statements of fact, when no facts currently exist.

And T.J. Franklin would be getting over 11 steals a game if he averaged 25 minutes per game. Kruger should be fired for not playing that guy more.:D

Exactly. That was the point I was going to make. Just needed a minute to go look up a stat. Ridiculous way of evaluating players.

Glad Rob is doing well for the Thundering Herd. I like Casey Arent and glad he is a Sooner.

Some of you on here are pretty pathetic with your constant bashing of everything Capel. Get over it already. OU ended up with a better coach so just be happy. Bunch of internet tough guys on here....

You are such as easy target, I don't know why you keep inviting me to fire at you. Statistics of any kind don't really have much value at all until the sample size starts gets big. You did know that, didn't you?

Didn't you just prove my point? A guy like Arent, or Washington, or Honore, or Neal.....none of them are probably going to play enough to use the points per minute crap that you want to use.

Is it a decent tool in evaluating two guys that play 30 minutes each, over a season? Sure, it's okay. Will it ever be a good tool to evaluate somebody that plays 10 minutes a game or less? Probably not. Especially when you are simply wanting to multiply out that average, and assume a guy scoring 2 points in five minutes would score 8 points in twenty minutes.

Honestly big time what can you do. How long did the continual pissing matches over Sampson last for on this board and it's previous incarnation ?

No, it is the correct tool to compare two players that play different minutes for different teams over a course of a season. If one guy gets 22 min. for team A and another gets 18 min for team B as an example.

This started when someone wanted to use a small sample to present a case that Goff was better than Arent. My example was a small sample for Arent. Neither one is particularly valid. But, small sample vs small sample is fair.

The worst are the ones who post ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. It reeks of personal disgruntlement, and makes the board a much less enjoyable place to be, IMO.... I will be so glad when it finally ends, but I'm not that optimistic with the Bitter Dozen who thrive off of their daily I hate Capel rants.....

Just relax and it will all go away soon. Just as soon as the sooners get back to winning on the hardwood, the anti-Capel people will move on. It's not like he didn't have a hand in the fact we are in the cellar of the conference and on probation.
