Softball

If our defense holds up. apparently our bats will be our biggest weapon this year. I had thought pitching would be. Still, it's early. Paige should learn a TON from that game.

I am not going to knock Paige - she had a no hitter through five yesterday and had not given a hit in over ten innings. Every pitcher has a bad inning every now and then. Shelby came in from SS without warming up and gave up a 3 run shot to first batter. Kady made a great catch in left - I think she is almost back to full speed.
 
Well, we came back after they scored, just as we did last night. Now, let's see if Shelby can hold them for an inning or two.
 
Nice comeback inning by Shelby. Jordan de los Reyes, their catcher, hit four home runs yesterday: three against North Texas, one against ASU. Today, he is hitless.
 
This is the first time in school history in which the softball team has scored 7 or more runs in 8 straight games.
 
OU trails 1-0 at the end of three.

Shelby Pendley has had some extremely bad luck. In the first and third, Nicole Pendley led off with a single. Chamberlain followed with a single in the first, and a walk in the third. Twice, they were on first and second as Shelby came to the plate. Twice, Shelby has lit scorching line drives, to second in the first, to the pitcher in the third. Both were turned into double plays as they doubled off Nicole in the first and Lauren in the third. The Sooners killed the ball in both innings, but the double plays on line drives prevented any scoring.
 
They are finally out in the top of the sixth. The first five hitters got hits. But, Ellis was stranded at first by two Ks and a line out. Now, Paige has two innings of work.
 
ASU got a hit and a walk in the sixth, but didn't score. One inning left. Both teams will have the top of the order in the seventh.

1375 attendees.
 
Nicole singled. Shelby doubled. The Pendley sisters generate the fifth run.
