I seriously doubt tickets for the KU game will be $200+ in front of the stadium.

If anyone is interested in going but just doesn't want to pay that much, I highly encourage you to go to the LNC and see what it actually costs. If you can't get a reasonable ticket, you may always run to a bar and watch on TV.

Yeah, well look at our game against Kansas. I tried to buy OU-KU tickets yesterday and ran into this realization. Either the OU ticket office is sold out or hasn't released some of the tickets yet. And the cheapest on StubHub was $80+.
Either way, I booked a hotel in Norman yesterday, so I'm gonna need to find a way to get the wife and I into the game that doesn't coast anywhere near $100 a person.

At Stubhub you pay a premium for two things. First you are guaranteed a ticket. Second you get to select your seat. It is almost always cheaper to buy tickets in front of a venue than on stub hub. I have often paid less than face value.

OU will be selling standing room only for 20 bucks. After the first TV timeout you'll be able to move down to any of the numerous open seats midcourt about 5 rows up.

This was after a scalper repeatedly refused my offer of 80 for two tickets, despite the fact that it was after tipoff. I guess that's why that moron had to spend his Saturday's standing in the cold trying to make a buck.

There will be a few, but don't count on nearly as many. Especially if the winning streak continues.

Never buy sports tickets early. Rule of thumb for when to buy things. Airline tickets - early. Hotels - late. Sport Tickets - late.

if people had followed you advise for the super bowl this year they would have payed 3 or 4 times as much as 4 weeks prior

I don't believe that. But in a game where nobody knows who is playing that's possible I guess. Of course the game could have ended up being the Ravens and Falcons and prices would have tanked!!

But seriously scalpers are the master of overcharging early. Even on gameday you will get charged more the further you are away from the stadium where there is less visibility on true pricing.

look it up .. the honorable ticket brokers took big losses ... (ie sold tickets at x price and then couldn't fill the order with out taking a loss)

the bad brokers just canceled the orders .. leaving the buyers to have to shell out much much more if they wanted to go to the game

This year was an outlier. Other years declined leading up to the event. Bottom line a ticket is a depreciable asset that expires worthless and has alternatives (watching on TV). Rarely will you pay more in the hours leading up to a game that you will days/weeks in advance.

It would be nice to see historical comparisions, this is probably better than some of our recent years.

Exactly. Walk all the way to the stadium and then walk back if you don't like the prices. Say no before you say yes. It is a negotiation and the seller darn sure doesn't want that ticket after the event starts.

It also doesn't show cost in front of the stadium. I have never tried to go to a Super Bowl but I bet you get a better price at the stadium. I went to the 2000 national championship game and tickets were readily available and fairly cheap.

JBAKER, I might have three extra tickets to the KU game. Let me know if you are interested. They aren't the best seats, but I'd sell them for face.

At that game they were because fsu doesn't travel well.

At the 03 and 08 MNC games tickets were 500+ at kick. Way over face
