The Athletic said that this year, the bubble teams are actually winning more conference tourney games than usual, making it dicier than usual for the teams already on the sideline.
But historically, the committee doesn't move teams from the last of the FF out or Next Four out to in just based on the conference tournament.

That is what would have to happen for OU to miss out completely. In theory, the entire FF Out and half the Next Four out would all have to make it.

Because of where we sit and finished the last two weeks, I think too many people are reading too much into conference tournaments for those that might be sitting outside.

I agree that conference tourney games are overrated by some people. The committee has shown those games are no more important than games in November through February. But again, we just don't know how close we are to some of the other bubble teams. If we were just barely ahead of some of them, our lopsided loss, combined with other teams picking up one or more win, could be enough to vault teams ahead of us.

OU beat a top 10 Baylor in ‘22 (a better win than any bubble team so far), and it didn’t matter at all to the committee.
How many of those teams on the bubble with us were 7-11 in the league and only a skosh past .500 overall?

The wins by those bubble teams haven’t moved the needle yet imo. Today would change that obviously.

We don't know that it didn't matter at all. When the bracket was revealed, they said we were the second team out. My guess is that without the Baylor win, we probably would have been more like the 5th or 6th out.

Off the top of my head, A&M, Michigan state, nova are some teams I would say that fall in that category.

Nova of this year seems similar to us in 22....but with a much higher variance. Nova has some good wins and some bad losses.

Lunardi's latest:

We are trending down with every update and there isn't much hope we can move up. Maybe if Sparty or Miss. State get taken to the woodshed, but it seems more likely that some of the teams beneath push us down even more. Something tells me that by Sunday, we will be begging to see our name in the First Four, which is beyond sad. AAC is definitely worth watching, We want FAU to win that, and for South Florida to lose as quickly as possible.

I think both lose today....and I'm hoping neither game is close. And yes, FAU needs to win their tournament.

If Lunardi is accurate then it stands to reason that if Sparty loses to Purdue, Johnnie’s lose to UCONN, and Miss St loses to Tenn…. That by mid afternoon we could be at the top of “last four byes.” I’d say if 2 or more of them win, we start sweating.

Those teams probably won't all lose, and if they do lose close games, they won't drop much, if at all.

I think a play in game is where OU will fall. Which is fine I guess. From number nine in the country to play in game. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

We are in the same spot he had us yesterday in reality.
