All the talk in the beginning of the season was about UT, KU, and ISU. But at this point in the season, OU and WVU look like real contenders in the Big 12.

Would be cool if those two teams can finish 1 and 2 (with OU 1 of course) and shut out both UT and KU from the title. :)

I agree, I think WVU is really good. I haven't watched them but I hear they press a lot. Could be trouble for us. KU hasn't looked great this year but it won't be easy to unseat them. It would be awesome if the March 7th game in Norman was for the title.

I, for one, couldn't care less where WVU or any of those other teams finish. My only concern is that my Sooners finish in first place.

I hope the title is locked up by someone other than Kansas by the last game of the season.

But if they miss the regular season title, you gotta prevent them from winning the conference tournament as well.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!!!

KU, UT & ISU will have a significant say in who wins the title...one conference game doesn't change anything. 13-5 or 12-6 could realistically win the league.

I thought it was interesting that there's now a hoops version of the commercial touting the conference's "one true champion" approach and the fact that all of our teams play each other twice, home and away. The ad seems to take a firm stance that it's the regular season winner who is the true conference champion, which might resolve the ongoing (if only occasionally active) debate among fans about that issue.

...and it's highly ironic given what happened in football this season.

West Virginia will always be good under Bob Huggins... Great coach.

They have the #70 player committed for next year, and return some key talent from this year. They lose their top scorer but return everybody else. They also have some top 100 guys that have redshirted and will freshman or sophomores next year. Good looking future for WVU basketball.

Devin Williams- #2 scorer is a sophomore
Jonathon Holton - #3 scorer is a junior
Jevon Carter - #4 scorer is a freshman
Daxter Miles - #5 scorer is a freshman
Jaysean Paige - #6 scorer is a junior

Especially when there is a conference tourney that determines the automatic qualifier to the NCAA tourney!

While it's fun to talk about shutting out KU and even UT as the conference champ this season, it's way too early to assume either of those teams will not be in the running when the smoke clears.

I said a couple of weeks ago that the eventual Big 12 champion will have at least five losses. That's how tough the conference is this year. We saw that last night when one of the so-called front runners, ISU, was pushed to the final buzzer on their home court by an OSU team most, including me, seems to think will finish in the bottom half. It's a season when there are no easy games for anyone, on the road or at home.

As for WVU, I have seen them play three times so far this season. They're capable of beating any team in the conference, especially in Morgantown. If I had to pick the road game I fear the most, it would be playing the Mountaineers on their home court. Nothing I have seen of KU so far makes me believe they are nearly as good as in years past. Not that it will be easy to beat them in Lawrence, it's just that I don't see them as the usual sure bet to win the title this year.
