Wildcats' freshman phenom almost committed to Sooners | Tulsa World

I didn't know much about Marcus Foster when OU was recruiting him, except that BigTime and Will Jennings were promoting him like crazy back then.

Now, I know why. He's one heck of a player for a freshman! Every time I have seen him play this season, I couldn't help but think that he would have been a perfect fit in OU's offense. I never gave much thought to who we would have missed out on if he had picked the Sooners. All I know is that you can never have too many guards who can score from about anywhere and play good defense.

Wow.. I remember him being fairly highly touted, and I always wondered if OU recruited him. I thought man, here's a guy right down the road... Well we did almost get him I guess. So what was the deal? Did he sign late and we already had Cousins? Did Kruger still want him or was OU full?

Cousins was just about to commit. His mom told him to wait to sign, he was all but a sooner besides his mom's blessing.

Kruger would've taken him for sure...

I don't think Cousins is/was the reason we didn't sign Foster. They aren't even in the same class. I remember us being hot on Foster, then nothing. No idea whom backed off, but it sure appeared that either OU backed off, or Foster let OU know he wasn't interested. I don't think Cousins had anything to do with it though.
