Will be interesting how the Big 12 handles this

SoonerBounce, I'm guessing you aren't a lawyer ;). In today's litigious society, allowing students to rush the court is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I am and in my opinion holding the school liable for illegal conduct of others is really bad law. If the school has a reasonable amount of security and attempts to enforce the rule, I don't think they should be found negligent and therefore liable. Now if they obviously allow it by past conduct that might be a different story. Personally, I favor law where people are accountable for their own actions. So if fans rush the court and someone is hurt, the fans should be liable not the school absent some significant circumstances.

Of course, my opinion does not and will not matter unless and until I am on an appellate court. Prior to that it is just my opinion and really no more important than any other opinion.

I remember the University of South Carolina was fined $25K for their fans rushing the court after beating #1 Kentucky 7 years ago. The SEC now imposes $100,000 fines for those same actions. That's a pretty strong indication that we're moving very far away from allowing fans to rush the court.

I thought it was great when OU fans did the same thing back in '95 after beating Kansas. I think we've only done it once since (2013 vs KU?). I remember back in 2003 when THREE schools did that after beating us (OSU, Texas and Missouri), so those weren't much fun. Regardless, I just think this is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

Who can rush the court while looking at their phone????? ;)

So how far has osu fallen that they storm the court against us?

Top 5 team and rival comes to town. Media talking all week about "The best freshman ever" leading up to the game. First sellout in a while. Emotionally charged game with a buzzer beater at halftime and another to send it to OT. Yeah as that one went on, I could see the students getting on the court and celebrating with the players.

If Ou wins tonight I doubt the fans will rush the court. Act like you’ve been there before and you expect to win all your home games.

It's just college kids having fun. It's not like anyone planted a flag.

Planting flags is what Sooners do. It’s a tradition unlike any other. Or is that the masters?

Bump for lOSUr fans. Recognize what it means to act like you’ve been there before. Oh wait, you haven’t!

So, for future reference, what's the cutoff number for number of fans on the floor to be considered "rushing the court"?
