Heard from a source today that OU is very much involved in the recruitment of Jarion Henry. OU has offered some kids so it will be curious as to what shakes down. OU has offered Micheal Chandler, a kid out of Lawrence North in Indianapolis. Also, there has been coaching visits to the Houston area. I have a hunch in might be in regards to Deangelo Harrison or Anthony Norris. It will be interesting to see if OU signs a kid in the fall.

From TOS, Josiah Turner is deciding between OU and UConn for his final official visit.

His 4 confirmed visits are to Oregon, Louisville, KU, Arizona.

Doesn't sound too promising, but it is good to know that Capel is still recruiting the entire country even with limited scholarships!

oh well..twas a long shot anyway

thanks for the update, DM

Might be Cameron Ridley (2012 big) who is out of Fort Bend, TX for the Houston visits.

I'm happy to hear OU is interested in Henry, I like his versatility. Little on the skinny side but he is a skilled big who could be a very interesting mismatch at the 4 or 3.

I've read where KU is sitting pretty well with Turner and I realize he's 2011, but if KU lands him does that do anything to Nino Jackson's thought process?

I think it definitely does and might be the reason Jackson is putting off committing. I've read where KU is the leader for Turner. He visited for Late Night last year and he's going to again this year. Plus KU is recruiting two of his AAU teammates (Nick Johnson & Jabarhi Brown) who are both guards as well. And it's rumored KU is the leader for SF Ben McElmore.
To me if KU gets 2-3 of those perimeter players it changes a lot their recruiting for 2012. And if I'm Nino Jackson I'm not sure I want to be a year behind those very good perimeter players. Turner and Brown are considered two of the best perimeter players in the class and McElmore is top 15 in the country.
And that's not even considering what perimeter players KU is in on for 2012, Nino's class. Shabazz Muhammed is top 5 in the country at guard and KU is in on LJ Rose and Marcus Paige who are ranked ahead of Nino at PG.
There is a lot to play out. That's why I said before when some people were questioning why Capel was still recruiting Nino Jackson when he said he wanted to go to KU....because you just never know how things play out. I think you recruit every top instate kid as hard as you can.
Capel extra effort in recruiting may pay off with Nino.

Don't know much about Turner, but really interested to find out who OU is recruiting in the Houston area. I know they are recruiting the Cleare kid for 2012, but would be thrilled if they were in on Harrison. He's the real deal.

Cade is the only Senior. In Capel's interview on the radio the other day I believe he was quoted as saying will will take more than one next year. If that is true then we will just have to speculate on if someone is not going to make it in this year (Newell) or someone is going to leave after this year. We just don't know.

With Osby, OU has no scholarships. But everyone is feeling that Hardrick will transfer due to lack of ability and Newell might not qualify.

According to Scout.com, OU is recruiting but has not offered, Anthony Norris, a 6' 7" 215 SF out of Sam Houston HS in the 2011 class. The Sooners have already offered two highly-ranked 2012 recruits out of Houston; L. J. Rose, a 6' 2" 170 PG and Rasheed Sulaimon, a 6' 3" 180 SG.

It's good to see that signing two players from that area who came to OU for all of the wrong reasons did not discourage anyone. Capel and his staff have made some important inroads in that hotbed for basketball talent in the last couple of seasons, and I would not want to see that slow down or end because we had a little bad luck.

The more I look at Henry play, the more I think he's a post player.

Jarion has some unique skills for his size. He is not an early bloomer, though I'm not overly sure he's a late bloomer either. To me that means he still has time to develop a more aggressive demeanor on the offensive end of the floor.

He follows and blends in far too much for a lead guard/forward-type. If he doesn't play a point-type position on offense, where he's initiating and dictating things, he'll definitely be relegated to a forward position, a la Tayshaun Prince. His skill-set on the offensive end of the floor is that of a hybrid type, point forward/guard. Defensively, he'd have to be paired with a guard or a couple of guards that can defend an opponents' quicker and likely smaller guards.

Stood next to and spoke with him in KC a few weeks ago. He's close to 6'7" right now with sliders or flip-flops on. It's possible he'll continue to develop physically as he still looks very immature physically in many regards. He's a very special offensive player because when he's really playing, he makes everyone around him better - making the game easier for teammates. He handles defensive pressure easily with his length and skill, and is very confident. Defenses have to game plan for him, but not because he's a great individual scorer - it's more for his ability as a play maker.

His biggest shortcoming for me is his lack of assertiveness. Perhaps time will take care of that. Should be an interesting year at Kimball this season. He's now got a year of play under his belt in his new environment. I think there's a real chance for him to surprise some people this season.

OU is very much in the picture for Nino. We have a very good shot. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!
