2021 committ

Waiting...

Keep waiting.

I already answered why I said it's like Charlie Brown, it has nothing to do with specific names in the future. You could scroll up and read it if you like. I could give you specific names of guys that we missed on, but you would just move the goalposts.

None of you guys liked Manek either when he committed. He will never play at OU. Not good enough. Not strong enough. Can’t play at OU coming from Harrah.
Heck some of you didn’t like him until a few weeks ago. Some of you still don’t like him. LMAO. You guys are all experts!!!!!

This x 1000.

I'm always glad to have a talented Oklahoma player. Can't wait to see Mr. Cortes in crimson and cream.

BTW, I never really comment on specific recruits because you never know how they're going to turn out. (See: Cousins, Isiah and Freeman, Matt)

That’s what I thought.

From the story linked to from the original post:

Cortes is averaging 21 points per game, 5.8 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals for an undefeated Kingfisher club. Kingfisher is 72-2 with Cortes for his career, including a current 38-game winning streak.

It wasn’t presented as humorous. Get a grip on college basketball.

yes it was, I said, "Right? He's not exactly Luka Doncic."

I was obviously making a flippant remark about a "highlight" video. I wasn't seriously comparing some kid from Kingfisher to one of the top young players in the League. That would be silly.

The kid is a definite winner.

Glad we got him #BoomerSooner:OUbball-logo::OUbball-logo:

People will see what they want to see and those who are "chomping at the bit" alters it to the extreme. How lucky can society get. It's just people being people and to expect otherwise is unwise.

Why do people question Lon’s recruiting when it comes to guards? Most of the guards we have recruited over the last few years have panned out well, especially in-state kids. Now if you want to question his recruiting when it comes to the center position, that is at least more understandable. And I love when people watch court level tape and think they can’t tell how athletic someone is. When I watch court level tape from hideous angles, I find it really hard to tell anything about anyone.

And while we are on the subject of athleticism, is someone like Trae Young athletic? Highly skilled yes, but I don’t recall him ever dunking at OU. So he must be no good.

Kids like this are the backbone of your program. We're not going to have Burger Boys lining up to come to Oklahoma. But we can build through guards who stay four years.

Welcome aboard!

Wonder how many were upset when Pritchard committed to OU? Sure wish he would have stuck with that commitment.

Good post OUFireman. People look at his picture and decide he can't play.

247 has him currently ranked 230 in his class. He's been falling in the rankings, not rising.

This is the type of kid OU should be able to land at ANY time from the state. I'm not saying I'd wait to the last minute, but he shouldn't be a part of any Plan A. Even if he is Part 3 of Plan A. We should be chasing a higher caliber of player initially. Upgrade the talent. Bring in some immediate contributors.

That's a pretty short list, especially if you take out a guy like Young, but I'll play.

Young - Win
Lazenby - Loss
Woodard - Win

So, I mean, I guess you are right, but from 2011 to 2019, he's only had those three from Oklahoma.

Now, guards from that time from other states:
I'm going to skip Harmon Reaves, and Williams, b/c both are in their first years at OU.

JB - Loss, but he has 2 more years at OU.
McGusty - Loss
Shepherd - Loss
Strong - Loss
Odomes/James - Not sure what to call these. I think all OU fans expected more, but they weren't terrible. I'm going to call this a split, 1 win and 1 loss.
Walker - Loss
Booker - Loss
Hornbeak - Loss
Hield - Win
Cousins - Win

And I'd call the two grad transfers losses, or a split at best.

This list is reverse chronological, so if you take away the Hornbeak/Hield, Cousins class, that is a lot of losses in a row. I expect Harmon to eventually be a win. And lucky for us Young basically lived on campus growing up. But that is a LOT of misses on other players. I actually think he's recruited better inside.

This kid is good enough that. Sunrise and Heritage a Hall tried to recruit
Him after his sophomore year. He will be a hell of player for OU. I have
Watched him several times and he destroyed the Alexander kid last year.
Go to the games and see the coaches there watching him

Thanks Leopard.

Glad to hear from you.
