2021 committ

You weren't too far off. Coming into this season, our cumulative conference record over the last three years was the worst in the league.

We've never finished in the cellar, but that 54-game stretch of conference games placed us last.

Sure, 8th isn't last, but it's in the cellar.

Well you can do any funny measuring with years if you want. Or you could look at the last five, ten or just this one. Whatever selectively makes your point but it’s not indicative of the cellar, unless that’s how you want to look at it.

There's a saying "one year doesn't make a trend" which is not what the original poster was doing to make a case. If you believe 3 years is not enough time to make a formal analysis then that is another thing.

I know weve been in the big dance more times that we havent. Non Conf is just as important as conference.

Starting to sound like a poke fans. "id rather not go to the playoffs than lose in them"

Being in the Big Dance isn't good enough. We aren't challenging for the Big 12 title or any kind of deep run in the tournament. I know everyone's expectations are different but that's what I grew up expecting from Sooner basketball.

We all want more.

What position did we finish in big 12 the year we went to final 4?

I've been reading sports pages year-round for well over half a century, and I have never (except in recent weeks on this board) seen "the cellar" used to describe anything but last place.

We were a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. What seed have we been since then? What seed do you think we will be this year?

Ya'll shouldn't go so far off topic arguing that 8th place isn't the cellar.

I said I like the Cortes commitment. I will add one thing. I like Cortes under a new coach. Under Lon, my confidence level in his development is about zero. But with the right coach and the right system he could be a pretty good player.

What are you doing as a fan to get ou to the point that going to the dance is not good enough? The return on investment from our fan donations and pathetic support (butts in the seats) is pretty damn impressive honestly. Go watch a game at Creighton and tell me why we as fans deserve a better program than them (and make no mistake we have a better program). We don’t support this program like top 10 programs do. Until the fans are committed to being the best, we won’t be the best.

So it's the fans' fault now? It's a chicken and egg question. If the product improves then fans will be more involved, but if fans were more involved maybe the product would improve? I don't see how more fan involvement and donations would help the team much. It looks like the university and the city of Norman will never build a new arena, which is what is sorely needed. I guess we really are just a football school and nobody cares about basketball.

By the way, I don't live near Norman but I still make as many games as I can with my busy schedule working a full-time job and a part-time job. I watch every single game though one way or another.

Youre never wrong. Fan of the Year! We get it.

Final 4 or failure every year.

You must be a joy to your coworkers to be around at all your jobs.

Some would believe the Texas football program has ample amounts of support yet the quality of the team is somewhat lacking. There are other programs where the same exists. No?

Sure, that's exactly what I said. "Final 4 or failure every year." Do your associates love it when you attribute things to them that they never said or even thought?

I believe there are many logical fallacies present in this post. Let us break this down.

Statement 1: You're never wrong. Fan of the year. We get it.
Logical Fallacy: Red Herring Fallacy. A speaker attempts to distract an audience by deviating from the topic at hand by introducing a separate argument the speaker believes is easier to speak to. Argument given in response to another argument, which is irrelevant and draws attention away from the subject of argument.

Statement 2: You must be a joy to your coworkers to be around at all your jobs.
Logical Fallacy:Ad Hominem Fallacy. Attacking the arguer instead of the argument.

Statement 3: Final 4 or Failure Every year.
Logical Fallacy: Straw Man Fallacy. An argument based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.

there should be a rule against bad-mouthing new recruits.

I learned a long time ago to stay away from this board for at least 24 hours after a loss.

This is the first season that I'm inclined to stay away after victories.
