2025 NCAA Tourney Bracketology

I think it is about 100% that Texas fires Terry ... sadly i guess the standard is a little higher for bball down there now ..
They have 10x more money. It's like ripping on mom and pop grocery stores for not having as big of a store as Wal-Mart

Sadly they need that to pay for BV’s buyout at the end of this year. There’s no way he figures out how to be an elite head coach between now and then.

i think with the new offensive staff.....we'll win enough games this season that bv will keep his job.

I assume no news on Godwin from OU is strategic, because I can’t imagine he’s playing Saturday or again this season.

OU made 8 mil in athletic dept profit last year .. (enough to pay the full buy out)

Joe C is just cheap ..

reading thru the rantings in the "donation" thread sparked a thought...
joc c has to look at this from a roi perspective...
yeah u have to pay out moser's contract....but it may not be as painful if he gets another job.....
also.....how much more money does the basketball program bring in if the new coach gets us to the tournament the next 3 years?
there are multiple offsets possible that could bring that $8mil number down by a lot....

if you look at just this year alone OU basketball had 2.4 mil less in ticket sales in 2024/2025 then the year prior (and that doesn't include the reduction in donations )

  • Men’s bballl ticket sales: $2,069,550 (down $2.4 million)

just new energy from a Coach makes up 5 mil (at least) in ticket sales over 3 years ..

On the other hand, how much ROI would there be on spending an extra few million in the transfer portal. To me, players are MUCH more important than coaches - even more so than ever before.

Idk. Look at K State, Texas. Arkansas, and many others. Spend a lot of money on players but are still struggling. What could be the culprit if they have so much talent and athleticism on their team?

one problem.....moser is a deficient coach.....he would need much better/more costly players.....to accomplish minimal goals.
roi would not be good with moser coaching them.

Tough to be an adequate coach without an adequate roster.

not true. kelvin was always able to do more with less.
i believe moser has the roster this season to get to the tournament. he blew games he should have won.
he consistently does less with more.

Kelvin’s schedules at ou were a joke in comparison to what Moser and Lon faced the past 7-8 years. Kelvin also got beat by a worse seed in the tournament just about every year at ou. Even in the deeper runs we lost to worse seeded Syracuse and Indiana.
