2025 NCAA Tourney Bracketology

We would rebound and defend wayyyy better under Kelvin which would go miles for this team. From 02-05 at OU, Kelvin never had a team finished ranked lower than 16th in the Kenpom defensive rating. Moser's best year in the 4 years he has been here was 38th. This year's team is currently 74th. One of the reasons Kelvin's teams are so consistent is because they don't rely on streaky scoring. Defense and rebounding transfer regardless of where you play. To act like Kelvin wouldn't have this team dancing is horribly unfair to his ability as a coach. This team is likely a 7 or an 8 seed under Kelvin's guidance. But to be fair, the team itself would look a lot different were Kelvin at the helm.
02-05 is when he started getting talent.

Again, I love him. I take him back in a heartbeat. But giving him this roster in this conference, before he made the switch to the NBA and learned how to coach offense, there’s no guarantee this would be any better. We’d be better defensively and not as good offensively. And this is a very good offensive league.

I get people are frustrated with the state of the state. I am as well. But to go back and rewrite history as if everyone loved Kelvin before he made that final four run – and even after – is just rewriting history.

Yes, there is a guarantee we’d be better. It’s common sense.

I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree, man. No one here is saying Kelvin takes this team to a 2 seed in the tourney. But to say he doesn’t get this team to an 8 seed? 7 seed? Which is pretty comfortably off the bubble. To me, that feels insulting to his coaching abilities. I get your take, I just don’t agree.

Edit: to add, last years team was just as talented as any of the teams Kelvin had at OU. And they still couldn’t get within 20 spots of Kelvin’s worst defensive output.

The most? No, but he’s gotten OU to bubble territory 3/4 years. Given the resources at its disposal, I think that’s the best one can hope for the OU basketball program in the current environment.
I'm not talking about the talent that he might have had with more NIL dough. I'm talking about the talent he's had on campus. Has he ever gotten the most out of them--coached them up to avoid turnovers, play smart, rebound (as well as they can), improved their hoops IQ? Has he ever made the most of the talent he had on hand?

I would have to say no, he hasn't. He hasn't had a team yet of which fans might reasonably have expected big things, but has he had teams that should have played smarter and better and at least snuck into the tourney? For me, that's a yes.

We all said OU had to go atleast 2-2 the last four games. I didn’t expect those wins to be MU and @ Texas.

I say they are guaranteed a play in game and they’ll get a bye if they beat Georgia.
Not guaranteed anything. We have a better resume than last year arguably, but are not necessarily in the field yet.

With how weak the bubble is, I think it’ll take a couple of out of nowhere teams winning their tourney to put us in danger, even if we lose to Georgia. After last season I won’t be too confident that won’t happen though.

We just moved up to 70% in espn’s projections.. but beating GA would guarantee a bid.

Love to see a run through the SEC tourney .. but we did miss the 2 wins to make it a 5 win streak entering it so highly doubtful.. but imagine if we did. The SEC tourney is far tougher than the NCAA will be and has nearly as many games if you start from where we decided to lol.

Season would have been so different had we won those plus the other 2 we let go in similar fashion. 23-8 vs 19-12 and a top 5 seed. Kinda tired of almost making it lol.

Best wins are Kansas, St. John’s, and Arkansas. We have 6 wins better than anything they have, and 1 more total win. We should definitely be ahead of them imo
St John’s is higher in the NET than everyone we have beaten except Arizona and Missouri. But Baylor isn’t exactly surging so they may fall down a line or two. They also have no Q-3 losses and played fewer Q-4 teams. I think that’s what is helping them a bit.
