James Hale wrote an article on Clark and it has a lot of really good quotes that seem extremely positive for OU. He uses the word we a lot talking about OU.

When talking about going to the OU v OSU game he said e also said "It was cool" and "hopefully when I get there we will bring more fans in there". Clark was clear he has not yet committed but that sure sounds like a kid that is going to OU to me. I really hope he does.

You can read the article at OUinsider.

I read the interview, too. Stevie sure had some nice things to say about OU. He's beginning to sound like he's already part of the team, at least in his thought process right now. I like it that he is developing a solid relationship with Coach Kruger and his staff. That could go a long ways toward getting his signature, hopefully in November. Make it happen, Stevie!

Bring him aboard, sounds like offering him a little later hasnt hurt us at all, I know some were not happy about the late offer!

Sidenote...
When they signed godbold late... I was thinking you sure this kid can play in the big 12, but he turned out ok...!

You can't really compare Stevie Clark's recruitment to Godbold. Clark has offers from the likes of Marquette, Providence and Vandy. Sawyer says that Mizzou is showing serious interest. I don't believe Godbold had anywhere near that level of high major interest before we offered him.

I wasnt comparing the two. I know Stevie can go almost anywhere he wants...!

Not only signed him late, but awarded a scholarship to a recruit who had already been announced as a walk on. Remember what a stir that created? lol

Godbold was the consummate role player, a kid who worked hard to prove he belonged at the D-1 level. You're so right, he did indeed turn out ok! Every team needs a player like David Godbold.

I think C. J. Cole could turn out the same way. Their size, body types and styles of play are different. But the circumstances are very similar.

Before someone jumps all over my mention of Godbold and C. J. Cole, I am in no way comparing the two to Stevie Clark. Godbold was brought up because he attended Douglass High. If he still has a connection to the school, as some have suggested, he could be instrumental in helping OU sign Stevie Clark. It never hurts to have an OU alum on your side in recruiting any kid.

He visited OSU when they played Kansas.

Clark is someone that might be in the top 50 next year and uses the word we when discuss OU. My only point is I view this as a positive. He could have answered the questions saying, I am not committed. I like OU but the fan support is not as strong as I would like to see. Instead he said hopefully when I go to OU we can bring in more fans. This kid is smart and has a 4.0 gpa. Obviously he is young and may be being influence by James Hale (and other reporters) because it is human nature to want to please people but I read Hale's article as extremely positive and I hope Clark goes to OU.

I also read recently that Keith Clark is his counsin (I don't know that to be a fact). We all know Kieth Clark liked OU. He stuck with OU even after Sampson left. He didn't work out due to grades but he was clearly an OU fan. Hopefully the entire family likes OU and Stevie will be at OU in 2013/14

Why wasnt the next question, are you going to commit to ou then since your saying "when i go to ou"

He said in the interview he is not committing at this time. The point is he is strongly associating with OU to the point of saying we to apparently reference himeslf and OU.

Don't shoot the messenger. Denver is trying to give you bits and pieces of what the interview said, without violating his premium membership by doing a copy and paste.

Take his word for it (or not), Stevie had some positive things to say about OU. I was definitely encouraged by what I read.

We need this kid. He will be an excellent fit at OU, if he comes.......:OU-logo:

I mentioned him mainly because I thought I saw a discussion when Clark was offered that OU hadn't recruited any kids from the east side of OKC in a long time. I had even forgotten about Godbold myself, but he was definitely the last and only I can remember since before Sampson came along. Even with Tubbs, we didn't sign many kids from that side of town (Tubbs didn't offer many OK kids; he did sign Choo but he was from NW Classen).

We have to have this guy. I just watched the Douglas-John Marshall game on Z Preps and he was dazzling.

He started the game by hitting a 25 footer and it got better from there. Great range and touch on his shots. They barely touch the twines.

He also made a boat load of great assists, some on length of the court passes. He has great court vision. Should have had a half dozen more assists on plays where his teammates missed some chippies.

He also did a great job penetrating. Later in the game he got a little wild and had some turnovers but that will not be a problem.

Douglas wins easily.

I watched a replay of the Edmond Memorial-Edmond Santa Fe game early in the season. Woodard is a good point guard but Clark is much better.

Kennedy, King, Yanish, Minor, Kermit Holmes, Evan Wylie, Terry Evans, Wayman Tisdale, Brent Price, and Vann all come immediately to mind as players from Oklahoma during the Tubbs era. I am sure there are more.
