Man....

When has any search for any coach that Joe has facilitated been anything other than tight-lipped? If any info is leaked that can affect the outcome one way or another. I'm totally behind Joe C and his methods.

Which leads you to believe that the Buzz talk is just that, talk.

I think that there was "talk" between OU and Buzz before Capel got fired, JMHO. Thanks for the update Chewy.

I'll tell you what it means... it means OH $hit! That's what it means.

One thing I expected was that IF Capel was let go, it would be because OU had a good idea who was going to replace him and an even better idea on if he would accept it. This was obviously not the case and IMO should have justified keeping Capel at most for one more year. It remains to be seen if we luck out or not now.

You can say what you want about Capel but he's a lot better coach than some. We can DEFINITELY do worse. To be the head basketball coach at OU it takes more than just being a good coach as Capel found out. Our poor fan support (do NOT argue this) is one of the biggest challenges of the head man. Unfortunately there are lesser traditionally successful programs with far better fan support than @ OU which makes OU a unique situation to say the least.

So I sure hope that Williams gave the indication he was heading to Norman despite a deep run in the NCAA's because if he didn't (which I'm sure he did not), than we are basically rolling the dice here. Let's hope they don't come up snake eyes.

I would be hard to get much worse than Capel, the program is down and the future was bleaker. Unless Joe hires his wife or a homeless person, I doubt it can get much worse.

What amazes me is how total silence from the Athletic Department is simultaneously interpreted as total doom and destruction is headed our way or we are going to get a coach who has won the last four national championships. Last I looked, silence is just silence.

I'm hoping for a Pearl of info to come out soon

If they took a chance on Pearl, a guy i really like, i would be more dissapointed that we didnt get Billy Clyde...

Billy Clyde would have been a lot less of a risk...

I dont think there is a chance in hell we choose Pearl anyway, but just sayin'...

Exactly what I was thinking.

My goodness, people. When was the last time Joe C. was an open book in hiring a new coach, addressing rumors that someone was leaving or anything else you want to name? It's not his style, and hasn't been almost since the day he arrived at OU. I'm not going to jump to conclusions about the silence coming out of Norman. It is what it is, and it means absolutely nothing.

Anyway, thanks for trying, Chewy! Much appreciated!!!

Agree.

That is a slap in the face to a coach that took us to the cusp of a national championship.

Say what you want about Capel, but the FACTS remain that if it was not for the best UNC team of the decade, we would have cut down the nets with Blake & Capel.

Before someone says it, yes, Blake Griffin could have carried any coach to the tournament, but Capel got him to come to OU. That is what good college coaches do, they get the best players they can.

Right... facepalm

I mean, of course, you could do better, right?

We all know that Joe C.better get this thing right or OU basketball is screwed!!I really don't have to explain!!GO SOONERS!!

Silence is golden.

"Silence is the element in which great things fashion themselves together; that at length they may emerge, full-formed and majestic, into the daylight of Life, which they are thenceforth to rule ... " (English poet Thomas Carlyle, who translated the phrase from German in Sartor Resartus, 1831, in which a character expounds at length on the virtues of silence.)

Also,

Patience is a virtue.
