March Madness and Covid-19

Pretty shocking! Other than the fact that if you read the article it says it's been happening for over 150 years.

Yea I read the article... Doesn't mean these poor people aren't being dumped in a mass grave by people in hazmat suits.

The sad part is no one wants to claim the deceased bodies. Lovely families.

Unfortunately Oklahoma has had a high amount of deaths for known positives. We didn't have all of our testing numbers out there but it is likely that we have a higher death rate than many states. I believe this is secondary to all of the health categories that we were poor in before Covid. We have a high smoking percentage, high in obesity, high in diabetes which goes with obesity and the Native American population, and very high in heart disease. All of these have shown to increase the likelihood of a bad outcome.

The surrounding states don't seem to have the same problem (Texas,New Mexico,Kansas,Arkansas)

And Saturday's report shows 6 more deaths (94 total) and an additional 74 cases (1868 in all) in Oklahoma.

Sunday:

2 deaths

102 new cases

I'm cautious believing a youtube funded channel.

There are people who, emphatically, do not want it to work and I'll leave it at that. Their ideals are front and center and people are just chattel.

Good afternoon friends! I am at work where I will be for the rest of this weekend again.

I was just reading through a few replies here. Here's the thing about hydroxychloroquine/chloroquine. I hope it works, I really do. It would be great if we had a treatment for this horrible disease. Viral diseases are notoriously hard to treat, that's why vaccines have been the miracle discovery that have literally saved millions of lives over the years. I can't wait until scientists (hopefully) get a reliable vaccine ready to go. I don't think that will be until next summer at the soonest, unfortunately.

Here's why I have been, and continue to be, skeptical of chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine. I don't think most of you guys realize that every time we have an epidemic or an emerging disease, researchers break out the malaria meds in hopes that they will work to fight it. Invariably it fails because viral diseases are just tough. They tried it for Ebola, they tried it for H1N1, and of course it didn't work, or worked in such a limited way that the adverse effects outweighed any therapeutic advantage. I am not skeptical of this just to be skeptical, these drugs have a track record. They are good for treating what they were developed to treat and what the clinical trials have told scientists they are good at treating and over the years the dosages of these drugs has been worked out. So what we have here is scant (if any) evidence that these drugs work at all for Covid-19. These drugs are also toxic at certain doses and can have adverse side effects. The other problem is that if we start using up the supplies of these drugs then people that need them for legitimate reasons can't get them. There is very little reason to believe that they will work to fight Covid-19. Again, if they do, that will be great news.

Cases and deaths sharply down! Never again shut down everything based on models please.

Not even if it saves lives?
I'm trying to not be rude Msproud but do a little research on why shutting down the country is worse than covid19. Start with the increased suicide rate and go from there. We can't shut down every flu season. Car accidents kill around 3k in the US every day and we will continue to drive.
