World health organization statement: BREAKING: WHO: "We’re deeply concerned, both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction. We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.”

Make no mistake, if the government declares a public health emergency, they can and will put you in quarantine and you won't be allowed to leave. As mentioned above, see New Rochelle.

travel in and out of new rochelle is not restricted

You’re right, I just checked but they do have that authority, they just haven’t invoked it yet.

“The state did not plan to close streets or to impose travel restrictions, Mr. Cuomo said, noting that he was only “containing facilities” where the virus might spread. Businesses like grocery stores and delis will remain open.”

Just got a breaking news alert: The World Health Organization has now officially declared Covid-19 a pandemic event.

Clearly the WHO is a bunch of radical, do nothing democrats and never trumpers!!!!!!

Might be wrong, but the organization in which you speak of has not been accurate with some of their numbers and that is "what is most important" for it has nothing to do with their ideological composition on any cucking level. Now I know you are being facetious, thus why bring it up as it serves no real purpose but to deflect from the real problem at hand, which is the well being of people who did not ask for this. No one asked for this or deserves this. People, people being people........it's just never enough!

Correct, HIV/AIDS is the only other current pandemic.

And there have been 4 flu pandemics since the Civil War, most recently H1N1 in 2009. Everyone wants to say "this is just like the flu, and more people die from the flu. Its not like Ebola or anything." But I don't believe Ebola was declared a pandemic

Btw, the stock market is down 1200 points today

between Covid-19 upsetting the global economy and then KSA going into a game of chicken with Russia over oil production i think we are going to see a continued decline of the markets for a while

i buddy of mine in O&G thinks WTI is going to below 25 in the next few weeks

that 3.4% death rate is not accurate

How is that not "accurate"?

The latest numbers are 124,775 cases and 4,585, which is actually 3.7%. The fatality rate has actually gone up.

And before you say, "well, it's not accurate because not everyone that has it has been tested". Do you think every single person that gets the flu goes to the doctor and gets tested?

From the purpose of statistics to compare its seriousness, it is accurate.

The thing is it relates to demographic distribution. No?

I have explained this to you over and over again in this thread. There's a reason the world is freaking out about this, it's incredibly virulent and incredibly communicable in ways the seasonal flu is not.

freaking out is about the worst thing the world could do

You cannot look at cumulative statistics, pull out a subsample that poses the best-case scenario by numbers, and then use it as proof the numbers are not "accurate", by saying "look at South Korea".

If so, I would say "Look at Italy".
