Non OU Big 12 Game Thread

I think you’re right. Cedric Lawson is a 21 years old junior. He reclassified to the 2015 class so he could come in with his brother K.J. That would put them in Memphis in 2016 when Buddy was a senior. I assume they were on the Memphis roster that season.

The brothers redshirted last year after transferring to KU. Maybe we’ll get lucky and Cedric will be drafted high enough to abandon his senior season.

I don't think there is any chance of that, the only way he will leave is if he just decides 4 years is enough time in college and he wants to start a pro career, be it in the NBA or the G-League. He isn't a first-rounder, let alone a lottery pick, so if he leaves, it won't be because he is staring at big contract.

That box score showed Dante Buford had played quite a bit, so I looked him up. Looks like he washed out of UTSA without ever playing. Always hate to see these kids screw things up for themselves.

You know, I didn't notice that about Lawson before the game. I actually haven't gone to any games in Lawrence this season other than the OU game, and I guess I was too nervous to catch that lol. But from everything I've heard from Self and the other players, I don't get the sense that he is a selfish guy, they all seemed impressed with how he worked and supported his teammates last season during his redshirt year.

Stik, you are correct, he was a true freshman when Buddy and Isaiah beat them in Memphis in the season opener of our Final Four season. This is his fourth season in college but that includes the redshirt year, so unfortunately we'll have to contend with him one more year.
My bad.. I meant Self walks in by himself..

Sorry, my bad..I meant Self walking out by himself...

You’re probably right. Dedric seems to be really close to his brother, and K.J. will definitely be back next season.

I also read there are two younger brothers who are top recruits. Let’s hope they go to the Big Ten or the SEC, anywhere except KU! :ez-laugh:

My fault -- my reading comprehension skills abandoned me lol. Yeah, he has always done that and I think it is as much superstition as anything. I know a lot of KU fans love it -- they get loud when the team comes out of the tunnel, but sometimes it seems like they get even louder for Self.

I always think it is interesting to see how coaches handle that. Obviously Lon never does anything to make himself stand out. IMO, college football coaches who insist on leading their team out of the tunnel are the worst -- guys like Meyer and Saban who clearly love being the center of attention rather than the players. I'm glad Riley doesn't do that.

His brother Chandler is committed to Oregon.

exactly....

If one half of basketball could sum up the KU/KSU so-called rivalry, it's the one we just saw. KU playing on the road, shorthanded, turning it over like crazy, down big early, KSU with all the momentum ... and it all adds up to KU leading by three. Absolutely dumbfounding that one of KSU's most celebrated senior classes is still winless against KU. They just can't get out of their own way even when KU tries handing them a game.

This broadcast is great with Van Gundy and Billups. They even are poking fun at how many charges are called in college. But they must not know basketball because they keep saying KSU's best player tonight is a guy with only six points. Don't they know you absolutely must score a lot to be a key to winning?!?

TCU is schooling ISU in Ames so far. Making them play D for entire shot clock and taking advantage of a bad day from ISU.

Clones trying to make a game of it; down 12 w/ 3:40 to go; was 18 just a couple of minutes ago.

Remember tonight when KU is adding number 15 to their freaking banner. TCU up four under a minute to go at home and gags it away. Then missed about a hundred free throws in OT when they still could have won. Classic win by a Self team. Makes me want to puke. A loss tonight and even I might have been slightly hedging on their chances. Their schedule sets up very well from here, really only one game they could realistically lose.

So true. Makes me want to puke. KU wins the conference again. Why does everyone piss their pants against ku? I ****ing hate them.

I really don't understand all the hate for KU. Give em props. If OU doesn't win the league I couldn't care less who does.
