Non OU Big 12 Game Thread

One tidbit that may arise out of the conference champion of the Big 12 is where will that team be seeded? For instance, if K-State wins the conference, you can make a valid argument that they still only have the 4th best resume in the Big 12 (behind KU, Tech, and Iowa State) if you're taking the entire season into account. If this were to happen, it will be interesting to see how the committee handles this. Since conference record is purported to be virtually meaningless under the new NET ranking system, I think we will see some teams/seedings that may have us scratching our heads.

This is absolutely true. Read an article about it in USA Today last week. KSU had a bad nonconference schedule and two ugly losses, so even if they manage to win the league, they won't be a top 3 seed, maybe not even top 4. KU had by far the best noncon resume, so everyone who refuses to acknowledge what they've done should prepare to whine about it when they get a good seed.

You don't seem to know what the word "or" means. And they've got zero chance at the final four, even if they backdoor into a conference championship again.

Yeah, you're right, they would have no chance to match up against quality teams like Tennessee, Michigan St, Marquette, etc. Only in your mind could they have a chance to lose at home to Baylor, but zero chance to make the Final Four. Keep up the backdoor argument, too. Would be so weak of them to win the league playing the entire conference season without their second most important player and several other games without two other starters. What a lucky team!

If they win the conference, I think the committee will give them a boost since most of their poor play came when they didn't have Dean Wade. Their play has been considerably better with him and, if he's healthy for the tournament, I think that will be reflected in their seed.

But they still won't have played KU's schedule, probably won't have as many good wins, and if there's just a 1 game difference in conference or a tie where KSU gets the tiebreaker, KU will probably still be seeded higher.

Because it's not like they've lost three of their best players since then or anything. You are such a buffoon.

And you are so blinded by your preconceived belief that they aren't any good that you can't be objective. (Speaking of, you still taking our guards over theirs?) And BTW, you were calling them garbage before any of those three players were out. But please enlighten me again...if a team wins the deepest league in America without three of their best players, how again is that backdooring it?

I was certainly dead wrong about our guards. No doubt about that.

And prior to Doke's injury, I thought they would win the conference but were not well set up to make a run in march because of their guards. Prior to Garrett and Vick I thought KU had the best individual chance to win but that I would take the field. And now, down three key players they are in trouble. Lawson is obviously great, and Dotson has turned the corner. Agbaji has been a revelation. But past that they are running out guys who either aren't good (Lightfoot, Moore, the bad Lawson) or aren't ready (Dotson, MacCormack

Props to you for acknowledging the part about our guards. And I don't mean that sarcastically, BTW. And trust me, I wish you had been right about that lol! I think Reynolds in particular has regressed more than any of us thought after the first few weeks.

I think we'll just agree to disagree on a couple of your takes on specific players. Dotson, in particular, is already really good. And Lightfoot isn't great, to be sure, but I actually really like what he brings to their team. I'd love to have him on any team I root for. I imagine Garrett will be back at some point and that'll obviously help them. Vick is the wild card, and could be addition by subtraction if he doesn't come back. If he does, he could win them a game by himself, but he could also get them knocked out if he plays like crap.

I typed Dotson twice, when I meant Grimes for the second one. Dotson has come around, he's playing very well.

TCU beats Iowa St 75-72

Baylor down to WVU 66-55 at the under 4 media timeout

West Virginia just got a technical for having 6 guys on the court... coming out of a timeout

How the hell can that happen?

My guess is at least one assistant coach was not doing his job.

Huggins was not to blame, although as the old saying goes “he was ultimately responsible.”

KU learning what it is like for conference opponents to play at AFH. They are getting thumped so far but also getting no calls. Tech stole their idea and added the money slot to the refs locker room.

KU may win on Monday, but this is in no way a KU team that should win or share a league title this year. Too many injuries and attrition have led to deficiencies that even they can't overcome. I think they lose another one before the end of the regular season.

There have been a handful of times ku shouldn’t have won the league during this streak. Yet, they always do.

Until it’s final and they are not in first, then I will believe it will happen. Not before. It has nothing to do with should or should not.
