OSU is turrible

Re: OSU is terrible

But according to realtimerpi.com and kenpom.com, using actual algorithms besides adding up wins and losses (think that Cincinnati record doesn't help you guys out a bit more than it should?), OSU has had the harder schedule.

Re: OSU is terrible

Since where comparing schedules OU's opponents have a record of 91-75 which means their opponents are winning 55% of their games while OSU opponents records are 84-78 which means their opponents have only won 52% of their games which gives OU a slightly tougher schedule.

If you take each teams top 5 opponents records, OU's would have a 55-11 record with a 83% winning average, while OSU's top 5 opponents have won 42-20 with a 68% winning average.

Not exactly how strength of schedule is determined...

Re: OSU is terrible

OSU is indeed lousy. We are too, but unlike them we are unfortunately burdened with self-awareness....

Great point Tony. OU is lousy but it's not because we are OU, it's because of some very identifiable unique circumstances that will pass quickly.

OSU is lousy because they are inferior. They are OSU. 2nd fiddle. Always have been. Always will be.

Re: OSU is terrible

When we beat OSU this year nickzepp & bigabd should lose posting privileges for 30 days. Really sick of all the bashing from fake sooner fans who did not attend OU.

The team sucks which puts them in a position to be bashed. When you really arent any more talented or better than Central Arkansas, you put yourself in a position to be bashed.

Also, since when did attending OU become a requirement for being a fan? Don't most people from Oklahoma start pulling for OU, OSU, or Tulsa from a young age? I became a fan of OU basketball watching Ryan Minor play when I was in middle school.

No you just like bashing OU. When they win you disappear. When they lose you're the first one logged in. When it comes to defending every other program in the big 12, you're right at the front lines. Everyone sees every negative post you put up about OU. They also see every sunshine pumping post you put about other schools.

If attending OU were a prequisite, Tom Dirato wouldn't be an OSU fan...

How do you know I disappear when OU wins? They havent won in years, lol.

I was here posting regularly when Blake Griffin put the team on his back and led them to 30 wins, wasnt I?

Re: OSU is terrible

It's good to support OU basketball. OSU has been very active on the recruiting trail and they are in the top two for small forward Tony Kimbro jr., son of former Louisville player Tony Kimbro.

This from a guy who has trashed Cade Davis relentlessly and admits to turning off the TV if the Sooners fall behind.

A true fan.

Re: OSU is terrible

I just don't see how any OU fan could say OU would have more wins if we played OSU's schedule. I also don't see how anybody can take any positives from the kentucky game?

A loss is a loss and the expectations have really plunged when we start looking for positives from a loss. Correction, the only positive from a loss is we get that much closer to turning around the program with a new coach.

While I think we could beat OSU at home the chances are very slim. They have better talent and a better coach. We would be incredibly fortunate to win that game and seeing as how that's the last game of the season, I fear the 30 point losses will start to take a toll on our boys. I also think by that time the press could be calling for Capel to be fired and the team will be severely demoralized.

The big question in my mind is what is the countdown until Tramel writes a column comparing Capel to the manager at a taco bell?

Cincinnati is 14-0
Arizona is 12-2
Kentucky is 11-2

All 3 were double-digit losses and were never really in doubt. The records of these 3 teams severely skews the win totals of each teams opponents.

Conversely, when is the last time gonzaga had 5 losses by 1/1? This also skews the win totals.

I could really careless if we played OSU's schedule. I prefer us to play 15 top 25 players and be 0-15 then to play 15 subpar teams and be 15-0. The point is...we know who we are b/c of the teams we are. I went into watching the OSU against Zags thinking that OSU was pretty good and now I have to change my mind. Their schedule fooled me.

Capel goes with a small lineup b/c it gives us the best chance to win. In 3 seasons at OSU, he has continued to go with a small lineup...and he doesn't have Eaton, Harris, Anderson and Muonelo anymore. At one point he has Penn, Page, Olukemi, Franklin, and Moses out there. Plus he has also gotten rid of several bigs.

I can see that you rather play the zags and VT instead of those teams and maybe pull off a win...just so we can have a better record and full ourselves into thinking we are better than we are instead of knowing that we aren't very good.

2 of those 3 teams we played pretty close...and we even outscored kentucky in the 2nd half.

I like what I see from this team. I know were going to lose a lot of games this year but we are going to win a lot next year.

I never said I would rather play one schedule or another. I did say last year after the season was in the toilet I wished we would get out of the Maui tournament because I knew we were looking at 3 straight losses. Looking back on the first few months of the season I'd have rather played a schedule full of UCAs and Texas Southerns because then we would have a chance to build some confidence while also allowing the team to gel. That didn't happen and we now have a fragile young team that is very little improved since November.

I was actually pointing out your reference to the 2 teams comparative schedule win/loss totals does not tell the whole story. Without cincy, Kentucky, and zona our opponents win/loss total is way different and it's not like we ever had a chance to win any of those games. Sure, 2 of the games were fairly close but was that because of something we did or something the opponent did? I'd tend to believe it was due to the opponent losing focus and allowing us to stay close. Kind of like the OU/Texas football game this year. Sure, the score was close but Texas was never threatening to win that game without us handing it to them which almost happened.

Re: OSU is terrible

What has Travis Ford ever done to be considered a better coach than Jeff Capel?

Ford is a scrub and that's why he does not have as good of a job as Jeff Capel and why he's not had as much success. Not even close to the same level of success. No way a real OU fan who was not an idiot would ever say Travis Ford is a better coach than Jeff Capel when there is zero supporting evidence.

As for skyvue ... zzzzzzz ... get a new line flutie.

Ford has improved the basketball program from the position he inherited it at every stop. EKU was an absolutely horrible program that he got to the NCAA tournament. UMASS had some awful seasons under Steve Lappas and Ford got them to the NIT final, and OSU was in the midst of their worst stretch in nearly 20 years. And has gotten them to to the tournament 2 years straight.

Meanwhile, VCU's fortune's improved once Anthony Grant took over and Capel from an outsider's perspective has torpedoed the OU program, one that was likely the 2nd best in the conference.

Uh, NO. Anthony Grant INHERITED Eric Maynor and VCU is no better now than they were with Jeff Capel. BTW, Grant doesn't seem to be setting the world on fire down in Tuscaloosa.

I just love all these revisionist theory posts. :facepalm
