Tweet from Kevin Kruger today. Not sure whether this is in 2016-17 or the next season.

Knight was born in 1938, so I suspect it's the 2017-18 season.

That's pretty cool, one time only tournament

You knew Oregon would be a lock :)

From a 2012 article ...
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bas...s-commit-16-team-mega-event-honor-phil-knight

(EXCERPT) The two tournaments, each consisting of eight teams, would take place in Portland, Ore. during a four-day period in November 2017. Knight's 80th birthday is Feb. 24, 2018.

Hollis said he has commitments from schools representing all of college basketball's power conferences. NCAA rules prohibit schools from the same conference playing in the same event, hence the two eight-team tournaments.

that's one salty pre-conference season tourney right there

Is Kansas not Nike?

Interesting that OU and Texas are the 2 teams from the Big-12.

Kansas is Adidas. That's why their uniforms are so ugly.

I wonder what the weather is like at Bandon in November. Hmm....

I hope they won't require all the teams to wear 'cool' NIKE
uniforms. :ez-laugh:

I know it applies to everyone, but I wish teams (OU in particular) weren't in bed with corporations like Nike. Knight's birthday is not one I'm particularly inclined to celebrate, and it feels as though this tourney is likely to cross the line from mere sponsorship of a free-standing event to an outright commercial, start to finish, for Nike.

What's next -- will we participate in a football game commemorating Boone Pickens' birthday?

Nike has been a long-time friend to the University of Oklahoma. It's fitting that we're on the tournament docket.
