I think Ford has gotten in the type of guys he wants for his system, but I am having a hard time placing them I'm the big 12 rankings this year. You can't replace an Anderson but I think okalemi will really help them on D and that Williams can give them some minutes behind Pilgrim and Moses. I just don't know if they are going to be able to get buckets in the halfcourt and who is going to be the guy to step up at the end of close games.

I could see them as high as 4th and as low as 9th. What do you think?

About 4th-7th. They got some bad news with Fred Gulley who had a shoulder injury. Alot of what OSU will do depends on two guys in my opinion and that's Ray Penn and JP Olukemi. If those guys develop they'll be 4th o 5th. If Keiton Page has to play the PG, they'll be 6th or 7th. I think Page is probably there leading scorer averaging agound 14pts. I think they'll have alot of scoring balance. They wont have a player who demands a defensive shift like James Anderson.

I'm pretty iffy on what to think this year. On one hand, like you said, Ford has gotten a lot of athletes on the team this year. 1-14, I don't know if there's been an OSU team with this much talent. Normally, the level drops off pretty quickly once you get about 8 deep.

That said, I don't know if there's that one guy on the squad, that can be your go to guy.

Markel Brown is supposedly an all out stud, so it will be interesting how far he can go to help out replacing Anderson and Obi.

I am curious to see if Ford ramps up the tempo this season, since now he has quite a bit of depth and better athletes. Or if last year's average pace is his new thing.

I imagine there will be more pressing/trapping this season.

IDK about that. I'm not sold on him having the impact that Anderson and Obi did. He'll have to compete with Olukemi for minutes assuming that Ford doesn't put Olukemi at the 4.

BTW Hohum, OSU is bring in Devonta Abron, a 6'7 pf out of Dallas in for a weekend visit.

I didn't mean to completely replace them, I just mean if he can score 8-10 points a game from the wing. Which would be pretty good numbers for a freshman.

As for Abron, according to some 'insiders', he was supposed to come in for the WSU game, but didn't. Or there was a miscommunication and some outlets reported a visit when it wasn't actually scheduled.

Unless you mean this coming weekend, then I have no idea! I think he's the backup plan for Nash should he go to BU or KU.

Edit- What happened to the :ford ???

I think they will be about as good as last year. I can't see them being a lot better after loseing one of the best players to ever play at OSU. Like HoHum said, they seem to have more talent across the board, but no super stars.
Pilgram and Moses have shown flashes of greatness, but I want to see them play together and show up every night. I also think Penn was really starting to play well before his injury. I think the league is a little weaker than last year, so I am picking them in the 4-5 range.

I think OSU is going to be pretty darn good this year... They have shooters, athletes, rebounders, and slashers on the team.

Their post guys are going to be the best that Ford has had. Darrell Williams is going to be real good out of juco, Matt Pilgrim is good, Marshall Moses is good, and Michael Cobbins is going to be good. They say Jarred Shaw has made progress and he is a great athlete, but we will see on him.

The guards are VERY good with Ray Penn, Keiton Page, Markel Brown, JP Olukemi, Fred Gulley, Brian Williams, and Nick Sidorakis.

I imagine they will line up like this:

PG: Ray Penn/Fred Gulley/Nick Sidorakis
SG: Keiton Page/Markel Brown/Nick Sidorakis
SF: JP Olukemi/Brian Williams/Nick Sidorakis
PF: Matt Pilgrim/Marshall Moses
PF: Darrell Williams/Jared Shaw

It's a complete team... They should be top 5.

I agree they have the makings of a complete team I just think top 5 would be if everything goes perfectly and Texas has a mistep.
I don't see them finishing ahead of KU, KSU, Baylor and Mizzou. Then I would personally pick Texas & A&M ahead of them but I could see if everything goes right OSU could pass one of them. I could see OU and CU surprising some people as well. It will be a fun season.

Well one big things that helps us out is we get ksu and mizzu at home. Does that mean we win those games? of course not, but it helps a lot. To me we switch things up this year big time. We will not simply outscore people by any means. We will be one of the best rebounding teams in the conference and tougher in the post. We don't have to worry about moses or pilgrim fouling out and having no one to replace them though we still have to see what shaw and williams can bring down low. This team will have to defend and rebound in order to win games.

The biggest thing I think that helps is Ford can do so many things with the lineup. We can actually adjust to the team we are playing rather than try to take advantage offensively which didn't always work out.

If roger franklin and cobbins are earning minutes we could be pretty darn good. If we can't score consistently we could fall pretty hard.

I agree with hum in that this is the deepest poke team (talent on the bench) that I have seen. Just don't know who the go to guys will be in the halfcourt.

I never think about OSU. ever. I have no idea who is on their team and don't give a crap.

They will be 5th or 6th. NCAA 1st round team, maybe 2nd round depending on the matchup.
