Here's some info on Washington. He's a 6-7 power forward type who was just named a first-team Junior College All-American.

Quote:
The first person to find out that Connors State’s C.J. Washington was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-America Team was the 6-foot-7 sophomore himself.

“Coach (Jeff) Johnson (Connors assistant coach) told me I had a chance to be on the second team,” Washington said. “I went online looking for it and didn’t see my name. “Then, I saw it on the first team. I didn’t expect that at all. I was surprised.”

The first person Washington called was Connors coach Bill Muse. Muse was not surprised.

“I would say him coming here worked out equally well for him and us,” Muse said. “He had a brilliant career.”

Brilliant indeed. Washington rewrote the school’s record books this season. His 26 rebounds against Murray State broke the previous single-game mark of 21 by Simeon Haley in 1993.

His average of 12.9 rebounds was better than the 12.8 by Elmore Spencer in 1989-90 and the 413 rebounds moves to the top of the all-time single-season list, replacing Sam Haley’s 384 in 1992-93.

Also averaging 19.2 points per game, Washington also becomes the seventh player in Connors history to score 1,000 points and finished with 1,057 in his two years in the program. Washington calls his sophomore season a breakout year.

“It was the best year of my life,” the Stringtown native said. “After I broke my nose (in the season opener against Arkansas Baptist), that made me want to come out and play harder. “I was the leader of the team. If something had to be done, I felt like I was the one who had to do it. If we lost, I felt like it was my fault and that I could’ve done something different. I don’t remember the wins that much.”

Muse will remember the player who becomes his fourth first-team All-American in his 18-year coaching career at the school.

Washington joins Cyrus Jones (1994), Horatio Webster (1996) and Detrick White (1997) in that group. He’s the 16th All-American in school history.

“C.J.’s ability to score a basket is what stands out,” Muse said. “That was the strength of his game.”

Washington led the Cowboys to a 58-13 record and two Region II championships in his two seasons. He had 25 double-doubles in the 2009-10 campaign. But now it’s time to take his basketball skills to the next level.

Colleges including Oral Roberts, Ball State, Western Kentucky, Wright State, Wichita State and Murray State have shown interest. “I visited Oral Roberts and I liked it,” Washington said. “I’m not sure about going there. I’m going to visit Murray State on April 8.

“I have to give credit for everything I’ve done to my team. They let me play hard and if it wasn’t for them and the coaches, I wouldn’t be where I am.”

Washington isn’t the only local college player to receive All-America recognition. Bacone’s Ronnie Battle, a 6-4 senior forward, was a second-teamer on the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics squad after averaging 24.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Bacone, like Connors, made their respective national tournament, the first time for Bacone.

Here's some info on Thompson

Which of these two would u rather have? Both..we need some attitude, and effort in the painted area..I like tough basketball...

Both, by far both. At this point I think Fitz and Hardrick are the only two posts we will get both so we need both and more.

Thompson's an 8.6 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game juco 6th man!! Please tell I am missing something here??!!??!

Washington recorded playstation rebounding stats, he will leave owning school rebounding records.......

I'd take both as well but Washington seems to have the edge here IMO...19.2 points...12.9 rebounds

No reason we can't have both.
We might give out more scholarships this year than the football team.

LMAO!!!!

I would like a recruiting class of any of this combo...

Carter, Poland, Thompson, Washington, Lloyd, Jones, Ross.....

For OU's sake they need both. Washington is actually more of a 5 than a 4 in my opinion. However, he's going to be able to defend some guys that Fitz cant. Neither guy is going to be able to guard either Morris, Singletary, Bowers, or Acy. I can see Washington against Moses and some others. Thompson gives them a little more defensive flexibility. The depth is the biggest thing. We would have 4 guys that can play minutes.

First, I agree with those who say we need both players. We have plenty of scholarships to give.

Don't let Thompson's stats fool you. He was like the fourth or fifth option on a loaded Juco team. In the games I saw on video, he played the wing on offense and a wing or at the top in Eastern Utah's 2-3 zone. Eric Bossi called him the most skilled big man he saw at the NJCAA tourney. I like what I saw as well. He handles the ball well, has a nice touch on his shot, with range, and he's an excellent passer who really has a good feel for the game. He needs to add 20-25 pounds to his frame by next season, but he already knows that is a priority this summer.

I think Washington would be a good get for OU. But I feel the same way about Thompson.

These guys are the type of Juco's that Capel should have been recruiting all along. Mature guys that know what team ball is about and extra work that has to be put in to achieve that goal. Allen seemed to try and put in the work but just couldn't keep with it. Cannon and Patillo were definitely not mature. These guys may not be the most highly recruited, or the most athletically gifted, but as we've all seen and heard, defense really just takes desire.

20-25 pounds of muscle is going to be a tough bill to fill isn't it?

I agree though if he wants to play bring him in.

Both. There is plenty of PT for both.

Come on down Nick and Chris. You will get to play big minutes in the Big 12.

Probably so, although I don't think it would be impossible if he really works hard. I'm fairly sure that is the number he used in one of his interviews when describing what he would need to work on in the off season. He definitely has the frame to put on more weight. Even if it's not all muscle, another 20 pounds or so will help to keep him from being pushed around under the basket.

20 pounds over the off season for a basketball player seems like a lot unless he lives in the weight room like Ryan Wright did. I think realistically a good 10 pounds of muscle would be a big step.

Both. Thompson if I had to choose but they don't play the same position.

I like Thompson, but I think I'd choose Washington just because we need rebounding. But really I am so desperate that I will take either one. Beggars cant be choosers.
