'24 Coaching Carousel Thread

Apparently that pic is Josh Allen, lol.

Whatever, it's meant to symbolize Moser.

I don't think anybody knows what kind of HC Kellen is going to be.

I'd take the chance, but I know it's largely nostalgia talking. But the dude has spent time around one of the best. I think that style of basketball and development is what OU needs. And OU is going to look really stupid IF (and maybe that's a big if) Kellen ends up being the goods and OU never made a move on him.

Houston trusts him enough to give him the keys after Kelvin.
Houston is only doing what it has to to keep Kelvin.

Yeah, lets go get Lon Jr. too and maybe drake stoops can be an assistant as well

I used to think this, but the game has just changed. We're still a top 25 program all time, but that doesn't mean as much moving forward. Money is the name of the game.

This is just a thought exercise, and put buyout concerns aside. What's the best active division 1 head coach OU could get today?

For example, would TJ Otzelberger leave Iowa St. for OU?
He wouldn’t leave ISU for OU, but I think you could also say that a coach having success at OU wouldn’t leave for ISU. They have a huge edge in fan support, but we have a bigger track record of success over a longer period.

Tilman Fertitta, Houston's owner...I mean big money donor... loves Kelvin. They've been good for each other. U of H is absolutely doing whatever it takes to keep Kelvin. That means making Kellen head coach in waiting.

And who's to say Kellen wouldn't take another job (even ours) only to go back to U of H once his dad leaves coaching?

Trilly citing Multiple sources indicating Oklahoma HC Porter Moser is the current favorite to be the next head coach at DePaul (842p)

Buzz Williams a
I still want Buzz. When I was coaching back in Oklahoma (HS), I was a huge Buzz Williams fan. Gotta love a guy who does everything to get the gig and then have success. (even if it evened out)

Still, Grant McCasland was my guy, still want.

Was McCasland even considered for the OU job three years ago?

If kellen were worth anything, hed have taken a HC job and started making his way out of his dad's massive shadow.. kevin Kruger finally did that and well, we are seeing those results..

He’s actually not doing terrible at UNLV. They had a horrific start this season but have played well in conference. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying I would want Kevin Kruger. He’s just done a better job this season than it appeared earlier, when it looked like a total disaster.

I just looked them up. Right now they're 18-10, 11-5 in a good conference.

Agreed we shouldn't look to hire him. But he's been able to have some success not coaching under his dad.

Throw some money at anthony grant at Dayton (prolly my top choice rn or dutcher), brian dutcher at SDSU, chris mooney at richmond or take a flyer on Danny Sprinkle at USU (was successful at montana state too - might be a future Kelvin that will be grateful for OU taking a chance on him and stay forever))

Whoa. I honestly hadnt followed back up on him. Hes 9-1 in his last 10. And with Hill out. Honestly kind of impressive. Unlv is my wife's alma mater so i usually follow them

Yea if they hadn’t completely crapped the bed in the noncon, they would be in the tourney mix. That league will get several teams in, and UNLV will finish ahead of one or two of them. They just buried themselves in Nov and Dec.

Indiana State and Colorado State are two other coaches I think you’d have to at least contact.

Leave it to WS to prop up a coach doing a far worse job than PM is doing lol
