I don't know how the refs do it, but props to them. :clap

that is a ridiculos disparity given that Lace Dunn was going to the rim continually and so was Acy. It is frustrating but it is what you expect in Austin.

Par for the course this year in the conference. Seems like every game you look at has that sort of disparity. Heck, Baylor shot 25 more free throws than Nebraska earlier this week. Makes road games hard to watch.

That just proves to me that Baylor is aggressive and makes the screw job worse in Austin ;). Good point- I just can't see objectively when discussing the evil empire.

An oswho fan would naturally like us all to believe that all home teams in the Big 12 get major help from the officials, but the numbers don't bear that out.

Here are the numbers of free throw attempts in OU's home games:

OU / opponent
Tech 34-26 +8
CU 25-16 +9
Baylor 15-10 +5
UT 15-19 -4

That's a total advantage of 18 attempts over four games, an average of just over 4 per.

Here are the numbers for the aggies:

oswho / opponent
KSU 43-31 +12
ISU 26-20 +6
UT 14-19 -5
MU 43-16 +27
OU 44-26 +18

That's a total advantage of 58 attempts over five games, an average of just over 11 per.

Here's texas, just for comparison:

ut / opponent
OU 21-9 +12
A&M 22-17 +5
Mizzou 34-21 +13
Tech 19-21 -2
Baylor 37-8 +29

That's a total advantage of 57 attempts over five games, an average of just over 11 per.

Here's KU, for further comparison

KU / opponent
NU 19-16 +3
UT 18-31 -13
KSU 27-20 +7
MU 19-21 -2
ISU 27-32 -5

That a total disadvantage of 10 attempts over five games, an average of -2 per.

So three of the four teams you looked at get free throw advantages? Thanks for proving my point, I guess.

Seems to me, assuming your is correct, that unless you're playing UT or KU, you have a pretty good chance of more free throws than your opponent when you're playing at home.

Unless, I'm just a big idiot, and completely missing the point of your post. Your stats seemed to say the same.

Not proving your point at all. I wouldn't, by any stretch, call an 11-FT-per-game advantage the same "sort of disparity" as a four-shot advantage. It's certainly not the same as a two-FT per game disadvantage.

You suggested that all Big 12 home teams get taken care of by the officials, but the stats I presented made it clear that, at least at that point in the season, the aggies (and the horns) were getting a special brand of home-cooking.

Has that continued? No idea. I've not paid attention.
