• Oklahoma led 34-31 at halftime at No. 13/14 Baylor and was down by just one (49-48) with nine minutes left, but was outscored 21-12 down the stretch in a 70-60 road loss.

• The Sooners lost despite holding Baylor to .389 field goal shooting and outrebounding the Bears 37-36.

• Baylor finished with a 24-point advantage from 3-point range. It went 8-for-23 from behind the arc while OU was 0-for-12. It marked the first time in 511 games (Dec. 23, 2006, at Memphis) that the Sooners went without a 3-point make.

• In 16 Big 12 games, OU opponents have made 127 treys to the Sooners’ 56. That equates to a difference of 13.3 points per game from 3-point territory.

• The Sooners led for the majority of the first half. Baylor didn't take the lead for good until Pierre Jackson's 3-pointer with 10:48 remaining made the score 49-46.

• After OU closed to within one point (49-48) at the 9:24 mark, Baylor went on a 10-0 run over the next 3:15 to seize command.

• OU's Steven Pledger scored a game-high 21 points on 8-for-17 shooting. It was his eighth performance of at least 20 points this year (had three all of last season). He was 0-for-5 from 3-point range but 8-for-12 from inside the arc. Pledger also made all five of his free throw attempts after going 6-for-13 over the five previous games.

• Pledger needs just six points to become the 38th player in OU history to reach 1,000.

• Guard Cameron Clark (12 points) scored in double figures for the fourth straight game after doing so just once in the seven previous contests. He was 5-for-8 from the field and is shooting .581 over the last four outings.

• Forward Romero Osby netted 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting and added seven rebounds.

• Forward Andrew Fitzgerald contributed nine points and a team-high nine rebounds in 30 minutes of action. He has been to single-digit scoring in each of the last four outings after reaching double figures in 18 of the 19 previous games.

• The Sooners held Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year Perry Jones III (eight points) and senior forward Quincy Acy (six points) to a combined 14 points on 5-for-16 shooting. The pair entered the game averaging a combined 25.8 points on .537 shooting.

• Oklahoma stays on the road to face Texas on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT (televised by ESPN2).

Head Coach Lon Kruger
Opening Statement:
“That for the most part was a pretty good battle. I thought the guys worked at it. I really liked Baylor’s club. They were long and rangy and athletic, and Scott does a great job. I think the second half we didn’t shoot quite as well, largely in part of their length and ranginess. We missed some opportunities and they knocked down shots to make an even ball game, then eight to 10, and we were fighting from that deficit the rest of the way.”

On defending Baylor’s three guard offense:
“Any lineup they put out there is a challenge to defend. They have a lot of different weapons, a lot of different combinations that can hurt you in a lot of different ways. Having that flexibility makes them that much more difficult to guard.”

On the team’s three point shooting:
“We had some looks there. Tyler has been doing a good job of knocking down some shots and Pledger had some good looks from three. Obviously we didn’t make any today, but we need those guys to keep looking and stay aggressive, especially with Baylor mixing man and zone. When they’re in zone, a lot of times that’s the shots you’re going to get. Again, ranginess affected some of those, but still you have to step up and shoot them aggressively.”

On playing on the road:
“Playing teams in the Big 12, it’s hard to win road games, for sure. To win today we needed to make all the shots and all the opportunities we had. In the first half, when we were up five to seven points, we had some looks to widen it out at that point. Again, when you play a club like Baylor, you need as much margin as you can to work with, knowing they’re going to make that run in the second half. So it was a critical stretch not widening it out there in the first half.”
