OU Coaches - Conference Record 1st Five Seasons

To those claiming Jeff can't recruit, how many times did Kelvin have two players on active NBA rosters at the same time? I can't remember how long Ryan Humphrey played (if you even count him). Pretty sure the NBA doesn't allow players that aren't any good to remain on their rosters.

How many losing seasons did Kelvin have?

Can capel recruit? Griffin fell in his lap and WW was a malcontent.

I didn't realize the accomplishment was placing players in the NBA. I thought it was to win games which Jeff can't do.

Besides to date, Jeffs 2nd best or most consistent recruit is Cade Davis.

Btw...had it not been for an NBA strike, Corey brewer would have played in the NBA.

The NBA draft doesn't win COLLEGE games, see Baylor.

I wasn't trying to downgrade Kelvin in any way. Just trying to remember if he ever had two guys at the same time. If anything it shows that Kelvin achieved a hell of a lot with less talented kids. Quit taking it like it is a Kelvin bash. I realize you want a new coach. I realized about four hundred effing posts ago. Quit shoving it down everyone's throat on every single thread. The greatest thing about this board has been the good conversations about basketball. Unfortunately now that we are struggling, those conversations are gone.

Kelvin had one guy end up actually playing in the NBA and he is still playing. That's what made Kelvin's run here even more incredible.

I mean this in a nice way, what would you want to discuss positively after a 7 game losing streak?

The saddest part about this whole season is that there have been some guys that have really improved. This gets swept under the rug because we are losing, but that doesn't change that fact. This improvement can only help for next year. It would be nice to at least acknowledge that fact.

I just don't understand how most on here would've predicted no more than four conference wins, if they were being honest. We have a chance for six, yet all that is ever discussed is failure. If we were able to win these last two games, no one in their right mind would consider that a failure with the guys we have on the roster. I realized there are reasons for this roster, but that has been discussed. That's all. Enjoy the rest of the season.

Taylor was the 3rd option in the post as a freshman if I remember right.

Gray and Bookout were Seniors.

Longar was a sophomore and rarely played.

Gilbert had just graduated and I don't think there were any other bigs on the team. Nate Carter might've got some burn at the 4 then, not sure.

What I have a tough time dealing with is the fact that the LNC is becoming half empty on a regular basis and we now have opposing teams fans out numbering us on our own home court! That's what makes my blood boil the most outside of all the other issues we currently have.

Wait, didn't you write in another thread, "Capel shouldn't get two more games"...solid post in reply to me though. As untrue as it sounds, I'd rather talk x's and o's all day over coaching firings. It's almost like we're hoping to lose now just to usher in a new regime. I've been a Sooner fan since I've touched a basketball and this is just upsetting and feels surreal.

That is definitely the worst part of it, and I understand the frustration of the product not being very good. The part I don't understand is by all accounts, most of the seats are sold. Maybe people aren't attending out of protest. I don't buy that though. I just think a majority of OU "Basketball Fans" are very bandwagon. Before any jumps down my throat about that, I would never consider someone that chats on a Basketball only message board a bandwagon fan.

we scored 70 points today.

and KU was sleepwalking the last 20 minutes while keeping their 13-20 point lead all game. In fact, they had that lead from the 12 minute mark of the first half and just kinda had it on cruise control the rest of the way.

No. I think he gets next year for sure and then we'll see.

This season has been a failure because OU is one of the worst teams in the big 12. I don't care if it was expected, OU deserves better. Losing is not acceptable at the University of Oklahoma.

I agree in theory, but there are times when circumstances can control the win loss record. This season is one of those. We all agree to Tiny and Tommy were questionable characters now. No one was bringing up those arguments before the year last year. It happened. This year was always going to suck. We have got a lot of really young guys some very valuable minutes. If the losing continues, we have no choice. I just think it would've been pretty damn easy to fire guys like Dean Smith and Coach K. They weren't and the rest is history. I am in no way comparing Capel to those two other than the situation. Smarter people than I made some really tough decisions when the masses wanted a different one.
