OU vs ECU from Myrtle Beach 6pm CST on ESPNU

Don't turn it over and make free throws and it should be over. 5 point lead now.

Still squirming here. Need to make FTs. Good sub Nolan for Chag. Better FT shooter

We’ve got to get the ball to the basket when Groves is out. Find some drive and kick opportunities. Hill is such a glue guy.

We are bad when Chagrois is in there.

That was kinda like pulling teeth to end it but it's a win. 79-74.

Goldwire was mugged early but it worked in our favor. I like that game. Learning experience but we won.

It seemed like they didn't make a FG the last 5 minutes yet win somehow.

Nice win. Our preimeter defense has to get better or we will lose a bunch of games in the Big 12

We need another 5.....Tanner may have trouble staying out of foul trouble in conference.

But, Nice Win!!!

I’m not sure what was going on for most of that game to be honest.

The Bad
Too many turnovers
Too many fouls
Weird perimeter defense
No penetration on offense
Chagrois is playing horrible ball
Not enough transition points

The good
We continue to shoot well
Rebounded well
Rick and Bijan showed some improvement
Balanced scoring

This was a nice win for several reasons. I don't believe this team played all that well on offense as a whole (too many TOs, stagnant when Groves isn't out there, etc.). Also, we made our FTs tonight (78%) in a close game when it mattered. And finally, this loss would not have looked good on the resume come March. ECU might end up being decent, but you simply can't lose to middle of the pack mid-majors on a neutral court.

Sort of ugly. We knew it would take a while to click on offense, likely why we scheduled this tournament.

I missed most of the game. Is East Carolina any good?

Perusing some of the game recaps:
Goldwire played well
Jalen hill played well
Offense not good without TG
Perimeter defense was suspect
It sounds like big Rick played well and bijan did some good things.

Nice to see the team close it out when groves fouled out. It’s good to face those challenges early in the season. We have a lot new faces so it’s a Good learning experience for this team.

Obviously turnovers the big story. We didn't seem to ever get into a good offensive flow. Moser was subbing liberally rather than working with an 8 or 9 man rotation. That usually will diminish offensive and even defensive efficiency. He is clearly giving everyone a shot at earning one of those 8 or 9 spots. I don't believe Johnson played. Don't know what is going on there.

I believe our defense was better than some of the experts on this board felt. They hit a fair number of well contested shots and some from extreme range. Am a little troubled by the number of times they scored over the top of us inside.

In a game like this the level 2 team comes in loose with nothing to lose and often play over their heads. I think there was a little of that tonight. That factor causes a number of first round upsets in the NCAA tournament. But usually those teams come back to earth in the second round if they win their initial game.

Tomorrow we get to see how another level 2 team plays against us. Hopefully we will have fewer turnovers and run a more disciplined offense.

I was pleasantly surprised overall. We’re going to be a solid team and I like the heart. Overall good athleticism. ECU seemed solid. I think they’ll be a tourney team.

Moser seemed to make the adjustments at halftime to eliminate those easy
slashes to the basket by ECU that were killers in the 1st half.
At times the subs were running in and out like it was a scrimmage.

A win is a win. We played sloppy but it's to be expected with all the new faces and the new coach. Really just need to burn the tape and move on to the next game, not much to be learned from this one.

A win is a win. Better then losing. Oklahoma State has a bad game against Oakland University and lost.

Some of the turnovers seemed to be due to the fact that our players haven't played together enough to know instinctively where their teammate is going to be.

I love watching Cortes play.
