SATURDAY'S GAME BASICS
Oklahoma (8-15, 2-9 Big 12) looks for its first win in Ames since 2011 when it faces Iowa State (14-9, 6-5 Big 12) on Saturday. The two teams have had their fair share of close battles in recent years, including a double overtime thriller earlier this season in Norman. The game has been decided by seven or fewer points in nine of the last 10 times the Sooners and Cyclones have met. On average, the winning team has outscored its opponent by just 5.5 points in the past 10 meetings and 3.8 points in the last five showdowns.

ON THE AIR
Saturday’s contest tips off at 5 p.m. CT and air on the Sooner Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM “The Franchise” in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with Bob Wischusen and Fran Fraschilla calling the action.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
• With 11 points against West Virginia, freshman Kameron McGusty extended his streak of scoring in double figures to 11 consecutive games. His streak is the longest by an OU freshman since Jeff Webster in 1990-91. Webster, who ranks third on Oklahoma’s career scoring list, put together 22 straight double-digit performances in his freshman campaign.

• Junior forward Khadeem Lattin enters Saturday coming off a career-high-tying 14 rebounds performance against West Virginia. Lattin ranks 15th in the conference with 5.8 rebounds per game.

• Junior guard Darrion Strong-Moore will make his first trip to Ames as a Sooner. Strong-Moore’s father, Adrian Moore, played for the Cyclones from 1986 to 1990.

• OU continues to show its depth in conference play. Through nine Big 12 games, Oklahoma boasts 21.4 bench points per game in league competition - the second most in the conference. The Sooners are one of only two Big 12 squads to average over 20 bench points in league games as the conference averages 17.2 per contest.

•Oklahoma has seen potential from all four of its scholarship freshmen as the youngest Sooners have combined to produce 22 games of double-digit scoring - most recently two 11-point showings from McGusty and Jordan Shepherd against West Virginia (Feb. 8).

SERIES HISTORY
• Oklahoma owns a 115-86 all-time record against the Cyclones, while ISU is 50-37 against the Sooners when playing in Ames. OU is 5-9 against Iowa State during the Kruger era, but has won two of the previous four meetings.

• Iowa State outlasted the Sooners in double overtime, 92-87, in the first meeting of the season (Jan. 21). Jordan Woodard scored all 21 of his points after halftime, adding seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in 43 minutes of action. Kristian Doolittle totaled 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for the first double-double of his collegiate career and Kameron McGusty poured in 19 points.

• The two schools split the 2015-16 regular season series with the home team winning each meeting. They met again in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City with Oklahoma pulling off the 79-76 win.

This team is very good at keeping the game within 6 points. The problem is they have been on the losing end for most of them. I hope they save 4 wins for Kansas City :woot

Guess no one shows up to these anymore. Since the team hasn't shown up in over a month I think it's justified

Wow, aren't you the optimist today....

Well this is about as ugly of
a start that we could have.

We have NO ONE that can get to the rim without getting packed

Iowa State is on fire. The one I didn't like was when the guy drove the baseline and made a reverse layup with no resistance.

for a minute there I was all excited by Strong-Moore and Freeman both actually looking like competent players. It was a good feeling!

McGusty is a good young player, but he needs to learn the concept of a good shot and getting one within the flow of the offense.

This one on one garbage gets so old....and it makes this team reek of undisciplined play.

Probably the hardest part for a coach when the team isn't playing for postseason is to keep them playing as a team & not become a bunch of individuals.
