If she were the type that you could stop, she might not be all that good. Hopefully, she is just shaken up and could use some time off.

She is best at hitting home runs not stealing bases. After last year - she ought to remember how many games she missed. This isn't basketball where it is constant motion - she gets a signal on every play from Gasso when ab or on base.

If it was the WCWS then it would be different but February - come on.

Back injuries are not the kind of injury that heals quickly and occasionally doesnt heal at all. Patti has already said that she will probably have to deal with it all her life. That is why youi dont do something as totally stupid as to have her stealing bases.

And, there is no reason to have Lauren try to stretch a single into a double or a double into a triple. Her health is more important than any base and that includes home.

Getting a competitor like Lauren Chamberlain to "take it easy" or to not go 100% is probably easier said than done. Hope she is OK.

Lauren doesn't even mention an injury on twitter. She just says that she's glad to be back in Norman after three weeks.

I can agree with that. The last couple of weeks had to be brutal on the team - I think it affected them in Cali this weekend. It would wear anybody out.

You fly to Honolulu on a Tuesday, practice on Wednesday, Play 5 games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, tour Pearl Harbor and hike on Sunday - catch a red eye flight to Norman (a brutal one), land on Monday morning, fly to Tempe, AZ on Thursday, play 5 games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, fly back on Sunday night, then fly to Orange County, CA on Wednesday, play 5 games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, then fly back to Norman on Sunday.

I guarantee no other school is doing that. Arizona and Georgia played their first two weeks at home and Arizona State played the first three weeks at home.

They will be OK. So far the pitching hasn't been as consistent as I believe that it will be. In the 3 losses they gave up at least 5 runs. You don't beat top teams with that kind of pitching.

Patti has said that she is having a hard time getting playing time for all the players that have the ability to contribute. That along with the grueling schedule may have caused her to sit Chamberlain down. It will take he a bit to work the playing time out. We look a lot better at the bottom of the lineup this year and we have all the pitching plus Parker from last year so we should be stronger there by the end of the year.

It looks like Kady has picked up just where she left off last year. She is clutch.

No, Chamberlain was sat down because of the collision at 2nd base. Somebody said it was a concussion - which is bad - but better than another back injury.

If it is a concussion, it seems unsportsmanlike to celebrate that it wasn't a back or leg injury. But, I will.

I saw someone mention that on OU twitter feed but have never gotten confirmation. Some concussions can be very serious too. I just hope whatever it is doesn't cause her to miss the record. No one deserves more than Lauren!

The good news is that Lauren is OK and will play. The bad news is that it is supposed to snow in Norman on Saturday when OU next plays a double header against IPFW. It is on Soonersports.com, soonervision if it is played: both Saturday and Sunday against Hofstra.
