11-0 after four as Shelby and Paige hit home runs in the fourth. That is the third home run for Shelby in this game, and her fourth for the day.

Paige is just the 22nd NCAA pitcher to have pitched 3 perfect games in their entire career.

In the back of my mind is the possibility that these super hot bats will cool off just when we need them in the national championship playoff series, but , for the momen,t this bunch is wearing the hide off the ball.

Re: Mallory Vaughn

Only two freshmen have ever pitched 3 perfect games in one season, Cat Osterman and Paige.

Moved this post to correct thread.

Re: Mallory Vaughn

Sooners up 18-1 in bottom of the 3rd over E. Carolina. 5 HRs this inning with 2 of them by Shelby, including 1 grand slam!

That was a rather stunning inning. Entering the bottom of the third, it was 1-1 with Ramirez hitting a home run for East Carolina, and Self hitting one for OU. Then, the wheels came off. OU scored 17 runs on 14 hits, five of which were home runs: Shelby hitting two in one inning, one a grand slam, Self hitting her second of the game, Nirschii hitting one to left center, and Paris hitting a long one to left center. Lauren hasn't had a hit, but scored two runs by being hit and walked in front of Shelby's home runs.

Self just hit her third of the game, tying a school record in the fourth. But, Lauren finally hits a home run today, #86, which puts her only one behind Stacy CHambers of Arizona for second.

The eight home runs is a new OU record. It is 23-1.

By getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Lauren tied Jessica Schults for second in OU career rbis, leaving her nine behind Samantha Ricketts who has 239. Lauren crept a bit closer with two runs on the home run.

Edit: the "third Self home run was hit by Hatfield, not Kady."

Kelsey was having problems iwth her control and was replaced by Shelby in the first game Sunday.

Geez! Shelby's 3rd homer of the day (I think Kady had 3 too) already! 2-0 Sooners over Iowa. It's Shelby's 7th homer in 4 games so far this weekend. And she sat out last weekend's games injured!

Kady didn't. Kady does now. Bottom of the first: two-run shots by Shelby and Paige, solo by Kady. 5-0. They keep walking or hitting Lauren, and Shelby keeps hitting home runs. Lauren must feel like a banjo hitter in this lineup today.

Shelby came into this weekend with a 298 average, 3 home runs, 15 rbis.

She is 9 for 12 with six home runs and twelve rbis, prior to the Sunday game against Iowa.

Kady Self was hitting 417 with one home run and twelve rbis.

Kady is 7 for 8 with two home runs and five rbis, prior to the Sunday game against Iowa.

Both have a home run in the Sunday game.
